CD4010 Hex Buffer/Converter IC DIP-16 Package ₹18.00 Stop cluttering your project box with multiple voltage regulators. The LM2596 Multi-Channel Switching Power Supply is a powerhouse module that replaces up to four separate power boards. By utilising four distinct LM2596 regulator chips on a single PCB, it converts a single high-voltage input (e.g., 24V) into the four most common logic voltages used in electronics: 3.3V, 5V, 12V, and a User-Adjustable rail.
Specifications
Input Voltage: 13V DC to 32V DC.
Output Channels (Simultaneous):
3.3V: Fixed (for ESP32/STM32/Sensors).
5.0V: Fixed (for Arduino/Raspberry Pi/USB).
12.0V: Fixed (for Fans/Motors/Relays).
ADJ: Adjustable (1.25V to ~Input - 1.5V).
Current Rating: Max 3.0A per single channel.
Total Max Current: 5A Combined (across all channels).
Topology: Step-Down (Buck) Switching Regulator.
Features: Individual output terminals, On-board power LED, Reverse polarity protection.
Thermal Design: Back-side PCB window for enhanced heat dissipation.
Advantage & Differentiation: Why choose this Multi-Channel module?
True Independent Regulation: Unlike cheaper boards that use inefficient linear regulators (AMS1117) for the lower voltages, this board typically employs separate switching regulators for each channel. This ensures high efficiency and cooler operation.
Space Saver: Instead of wiring four separate buck converters, you get a clean, compact layout with a single input terminal.
Versatility: It essentially turns any spare 19V laptop charger or 24V industrial supply into a fully functional lab bench power supply.
Key Applications & Usage
DIY Lab Bench Supply: Mount it in a case with banana plugs to create a cheap, versatile power station.
Robot Power Distribution: Power your 12V motors, 5V servo controller, and 3.3V sensors from a single 24V battery pack.
IoT Gateways: Power a GSM module (4V-Adjustable) and an MCU (3.3V) simultaneously.
LED Lighting: Drive different voltage LED strips from one main source.

⚠️ CRITICAL INPUT VOLTAGE RULE:
This is a Buck (Step-Down) converter, not a Boost converter. The input voltage must always be higher than the highest output voltage you intend to use.
To use the 12V Output: Your Input MUST be at least 13.5V to 14V.
Scenario: If you supply 12V input, the 12V output will drop to ~10.5V (due to dropout voltage). The 5V and 3.3V rails will still work fine.
⚠️ TOTAL CURRENT LIMIT:
While each chip is rated for 3A, the PCB traces and thermal dissipation limit the Total Combined Current to ~5A.
Bad Idea: Drawing 3A on 5V + 3A on 12V simultaneously (Total 6A). This will overheat the board.
Good Idea: Drawing 1A on 5V + 2A on 12V (Total 3A).
Troubleshooting: Adjustable Output not changing?
The blue trimpot is multi-turn. You may need to turn the brass screw 10-15 full turns counter-clockwise before the voltage starts to drop.
What's Included & Required
Included: 1x LM2596 Multi-Channel Power Supply Module.
Required: A DC Power Source (e.g., 12V-32V Adapter). Note: Input must be >13V for the 12V rail to work.
Q: Can I use all 4 outputs at the same time?
A: Yes, absolutely. Just ensure the total current drawn across all 4 does not exceed 5A.
Q: What power supply should I use as input?
A: A 24V DC adapter (min 2A-3A) is ideal as it allows the 12V rail to function perfectly.
Q: Can I use a 12V adapter as input?
A: You can, but the 12V output will not work (it will output ~10.5V). The 5V, 3.3V, and ADJ (set below 10V) will work fine.
Q: Does it have short-circuit protection?
A: The LM2596 chip has internal thermal shutdown and current limiting, but prolonged short circuits can still damage the module.
Q: How do I adjust the voltage?
A: Only the channel marked "ADJ" is adjustable via the blue potentiometer. The others are fixed.
Q: Is it efficient?
A: Yes, switching regulators are typically 80-90% efficient, generating far less heat than linear regulators.
Q: Can I power a Raspberry Pi 4?
A: Yes, the 5V rail can supply up to 3A, which is sufficient for a Pi 4.
Q: Does it boost voltage?
A: No. It only steps down. Input must be > Output.
Q: What is the dropout voltage?
A: Approximately 1.5V to 2V.
Q: Can I charge a battery with it?
A: Not recommended without adding an external diode, as reverse current from the battery could damage the module when input power is off.
Q: Does it get hot?
A: It gets warm under load. If drawing >2A total for long periods, a small fan is recommended.
Q: What is the ripple voltage?
A: Typically <30mV, suitable for most digital electronics.
Q: Can I connect the grounds together?
A: Yes, all output grounds are common (connected) to the input ground.
Q: What connector is used for input?
A: It usually has a 5.08mm pitch screw terminal or a DC barrel jack footprint (check images).
Q: Can I use it for audio amps?
A: It can power small amps, but switching supplies can introduce noise. A linear supply is often preferred for high-fidelity audio.
Q: Is there an input fuse?
A: Usually no. It is recommended to add an external fuse on the input line.
Q: What happens if I connect input polarity backwards?
A: The specs mention reverse protection, but it is always safest to double-check polarity before switching on.
Q: Can I use the ADJ output for 1.8V?
A: Yes, the adjustable range typically goes down to 1.25V.
Q: Is the 3.3V rail accurate?
A: Yes, typically within +/- 3% tolerance.
Q: Why is the board red/blue?
A: PCB color varies by batch (Red, Blue, or Green), but the component specs remain the same.
