  The "20W" refers to the electrical power consumption. The "5W" is the actual optical power of the laser beam, which determines cutting capability.
• Can this machine cut clear acrylic?
  No, diode lasers (450nm blue light) pass through clear acrylic. You can only cut opaque, black, or colored acrylic.
• How thick of plywood can this cut?
  It can comfortably cut 3mm birch plywood in 1 pass, and up to 5-6mm in multiple passes with proper focus.
• Do I need to assemble the rotary roller?
  The rotary roller usually comes preassembled but requires wiring into the Y-axis stepper port on the mainboard.
• Does it work with LightBurn software?
  Yes, it is fully compatible with LightBurn (GRBL controller profile), which is the industry standard for laser control.
• How do I connect the Rotary Roller?
  Unplug the Y-axis motor cable from the motherboard and plug in the Rotary Roller cable instead.
• Can it engrave on metal?
  It can engrave on coated metal (like anodized aluminum) or painted steel. It cannot engrave bare, reflective metals like raw silver or gold.
• What is the purpose of the Honeycomb plate?
  It supports the material while allowing smoke and laser beams to pass through, preventing burn marks on the back of your workpiece.
• Is the firmware open source?
  It runs on GRBL 1.1, which is open-source. You can flash standard GRBL firmware if needed.
