BTS7960 43A High Power Motor Driver Module - IBT-2 H-Bridge Controller ₹699.00 The GT2 "Anti-Backlash" Advantage Not all toothed belts are created equal. Older T2.5 standard belts feature square teeth that leave a tiny gap when seated into a pulley, resulting in "backlash" (a slight delay/slop when changing directions). The GT2 (Gates Tooth 2mm) profile fixes this completely. The teeth are rounded, allowing them to perfectly and snugly fill the groove of a GT2 pulley. When your stepper motor changes direction, the belt responds instantly, making it a critical requirement for high-resolution 3D printing and precise CNC carving.
Continuous Closed-Loop Reliability "Open" belts require you to route them through your machine and clamp the ends together, which creates a dead zone that cannot pass over a pulley. This Closed-Loop belt is manufactured as a continuous 400mm circle. This allows for infinite, high-speed rotary motion. It is ideal for linking two parallel shafts together, such as a motor driving a secondary gearbox, without ever worrying about a seam breaking.
Stretch-Resistant Construction While the exterior of the belt is made from grip-friendly, durable neoprene rubber to resist wear, rubber alone would stretch under tension, ruining your machine's calibration. Embedded directly inside the core of this 6mm wide belt are parallel strands of high-tensile fiberglass or Kevlar. This guarantees that even when pulled taut between two pulleys, the belt maintains its exact 400mm length and 2mm tooth pitch indefinitely.
Belt Profile: GT2 (Rounded Tooth)
Loop Type: Closed-Loop (Continuous)
Pitch (Tooth-to-Tooth): 2.0 mm
Total Length (Perimeter): 400 mm
Total Tooth Count: 200 Teeth
Belt Width: 6 mm
Material: Neoprene Rubber
Core Reinforcement: Fiberglass / Kevlar

Dual Z-Axis Synchronization: Wrapping this belt around the top pulleys of two Z-axis leadscrews on a 3D printer (like an Ender 3) to ensure both sides of the gantry rise perfectly together without one side sagging.
Rotary Tables: Driving a continuous rotating platform for 3D scanning objects or automated product photography.
RC Drivetrains: Acting as the main power transmission belt from a high-speed brushless motor to the axles of a custom 1/10th scale remote control car.
Unlock New Capabilities (Project Evolution)
The Automated Camera Turntable: Don't rely on jerky, hand-spun lazy susans for your product videos! Evolve your studio! Mount a large lazy susan bearing to a wood base. Attach a large 60-tooth GT2 pulley to the turntable, and a small 20-tooth pulley to a NEMA 17 stepper motor. Link them seamlessly using this 400mm closed-loop belt. Driven by an Arduino, you now have a 3:1 gear-reduced, flawlessly smooth motorized turntable for cinematic 360-degree b-roll shots!
Package Includes:
What does "GT2" mean? It stands for "Gates Tooth 2mm." It is a specific tooth profile featuring rounded edges designed to eliminate backlash (slop) when seating into pulleys.
What is the width of this belt? It is exactly 6mm wide, which is the industry standard for most desktop 3D printers and NEMA 17 motor pulleys.
What is the total length? The total circumference (perimeter) of the closed loop is exactly 400mm.
How many teeth does it have? Because it is 400mm long and has a 2mm pitch (distance between teeth), it has exactly 200 teeth.
Is this belt stretchy like a rubber band? No. While the outer material is rubber, it contains internal fiberglass or Kevlar cords that prevent it from stretching under tension.
What does "closed-loop" mean? It means the belt is manufactured as a continuous, unbroken circle. There are no ends to splice or crimp together.
Can I cut this to use as an open belt? Yes, you can technically snip it with scissors to make a 400mm long open belt, though it is usually cheaper to buy open belt by the meter if that is your goal.
Will this work with T2.5 pulleys? No. T2.5 pulleys have a square tooth profile and a 2.5mm pitch. This belt requires GT2 (2mm pitch) pulleys.
How do I tension a closed-loop belt? Because you cannot pull the ends tight, you must tension it by physically moving the motor mount further away, or by pressing a smooth idler pulley against the side of the belt.
Does this belt need lubrication? No. Timing belts are designed to run completely dry. Applying oil or grease will degrade the rubber and cause the belt to slip off the pulleys.
Can I connect two of these belts together to make an 800mm belt? No, there is no reliable way to splice timing belts together at home without creating a weak point or ruining the tooth pitch. You must buy the exact length you need.
Is the belt directional? No. It is perfectly symmetrical and can be spun efficiently in clockwise or counter-clockwise directions.
Can I use this for the X or Y axis on my 3D printer? Generally, no. Most Cartesian 3D printers use long "open" belts for the X and Y axes. Closed-loop belts are used for Z-axis sync or shorter, continuous rotary drives.
What temperature can this belt withstand? Neoprene rubber timing belts typically operate safely in environments up to 85°C (185°F).
How tight should I make the belt? It should be tight enough that it feels like a plucked bass string, but not so incredibly tight that it bends your motor shafts or grinds out your motor bearings.
Why use a belt instead of a direct gear drive? Belts are lighter, require no lubrication, run much quieter, and actually help absorb micro-vibrations from stepper motors, resulting in smoother 3D prints.
Can I wash the belt if it gets dusty? Yes, you can wipe it down with a dry cloth or a slightly damp rag. Avoid harsh solvents like acetone, as they can dry out and crack the rubber.
What happens if I skip a tooth while installing? If you are synchronizing two leadscrews and one pulley is off by a tooth, your gantry will sit at an angle. Always ensure the machine is square before tightening the pulley set-screws onto the belt.
How long will this belt last? Under normal indoor desktop manufacturing conditions, a fiberglass-reinforced GT2 belt will last for thousands of hours of continuous printing without needing replacement.
Is there a smooth side to the belt? Yes, the inside has the teeth, and the outside is completely flat and smooth. Smooth idler pulleys should only press against the smooth outside back of the belt.
