Achieve precise, backlash-free gear reductions in microscopic spaces with this 110mm closed-loop GT2 timing belt. Features a 6mm width, durable neoprene rubber construction with a stretch-resistant fibreglass core, and a standard 2mm pitch.
Ultra-Compact Gear Reduction When engineering desktop robotics, space is often the most limiting factor. The 110mm loop is specifically manufactured to transfer high torque over incredibly short distances. By placing a small 16-tooth pulley on a compact stepper motor and a larger 40-tooth pulley on an adjacent shaft, this tiny belt links them together to create a powerful mechanical gear reduction in a footprint of just a few square centimetres. This is the secret to building modern, lightweight "Direct Drive" extruders for high-speed 3D printing.
The GT2 "Anti-Backlash" Advantage. In miniature assemblies, even a fraction of a millimetre of slop can ruin accuracy. The GT2 (Gates Tooth 2mm) profile features precisely rounded teeth that conform perfectly to the grooves of a GT2 pulley without leaving any air gaps. Unlike older square-tooth belts that suffer from "backlash" when reversing direction, the GT2 profile engages instantly and securely. When your motor makes a micro-step, your secondary shaft responds exactly in sync.
Stretch-Resistant Core Technology Under torque, a standard rubber loop of this size would stretch and slip over the pulley teeth. To prevent this, the durable black neoprene rubber is extruded over a core of high-tensile fibreglass or Kevlar strands. These internal cords are completely unstretchable under typical desktop robotics loads. This guarantees that even when pulled taut between two close-proximity pulleys, the belt maintains its exact 110mm circumference and perfect 2mm tooth pitch indefinitely.

Micro 3D Printer Extruders: Acting as the tiny power transmission belt for lightweight, geared filament extruders that sit directly on the hotend carriage.
Pan-Tilt Camera Gimbals: Transferring power from hidden motors to the pivot axes of a stabilized camera gimbal without bulky direct-drive gearboxes.
Miniature RC Mechanisms: Driving compact weapon systems on 1lb or 3lb combat robots where internal chassis space is severely limited.
Unlock New Capabilities (Project Evolution)
The Micro Arduino Star-Tracker: Astrophotography requires incredibly slow, smooth, and precise rotation to track stars as the earth turns. Direct gears often have too much backlash. Evolve your photography! Build a micro star-tracker by using a NEMA 14 stepper motor with a 16T pulley, linked via this 110mm belt to an 80T pulley mounted on your camera's pivot axis. The tiny belt provides a silent, perfectly smooth 5:1 gear reduction in a pocket-sized 3D printed enclosure, allowing for stunning, streak-free long exposures of the Milky Way!
1 x Closed-Loop GT2 Timing Belt (6mm Width, 110mm Length)
What does "GT2" mean? "GT2" stands for "Gates Tooth 2mm." It is a specific tooth profile featuring rounded edges designed to completely eliminate backlash (slop) when interlocking with matching pulleys.
What is the width of this belt? It is exactly 6mm wide, matching standard desktop 3D printer hardware and typical stepper motor pulleys.
What is the total length? The total circumference (perimeter) of this ultra-compact loop is 110mm.
How many teeth does it have? Given the 110mm length and the 2mm pitch (distance between the centers of each tooth), the belt features exactly 55 teeth.
If I stretch it between two pulleys, how far apart will they be? Because this belt is so small, the center-to-center distance between two small pulleys (like two 20T pulleys) would be incredibly tight—roughly 35mm to 40mm.
Is this belt stretchy like a rubber band? No. While the outer jacket is made of neoprene rubber, it features an internal fiberglass or Kevlar core that prevents it from stretching under tension.
What does "closed-loop" mean? It signifies that the belt is manufactured as one continuous, unbroken circle directly from the factory. There are no weak splice points.
Can I cut this to use as an open belt? You can cut it, yielding a 110mm long open GT2 belt. However, this is generally too short to be useful for standard X/Y axis gantry movements.
Will this work with T2.5 pulleys? No. T2.5 pulleys utilize a square tooth profile and a 2.5mm pitch. You must use GT2 (2mm pitch) pulleys.
How do I tension a micro belt like this? For a belt this small, there is no room for an idler pulley. You tension it by mounting your motor on slotted screw holes, sliding the motor slightly away from the driven shaft to pull the belt tight, and then locking the screws down.
Does this belt need lubrication? Absolutely not. Timing belts must run dry. Applying oils or grease will degrade the neoprene rubber and cause the teeth to slip.
Can I connect two of these belts together to make a 220mm loop? No. There is no reliable DIY method to splice two timing belts together while maintaining the exact 2mm tooth pitch and structural integrity under tension.
Is the belt directional? No. The belt is completely symmetrical and performs equally well rotating clockwise or counter-clockwise.
What temperature can this belt withstand? Standard fiberglass-reinforced neoprene timing belts operate safely in environments up to roughly 85°C (185°F). Keep it shielded from direct contact with 3D printer hotends.
How tight should I make the belt? It should be taut enough to eliminate any visible slack or "walking," but not so tight that it forces the motor shaft to bend or binds the bearings.
Can I use this to upgrade my 3D printer extruder? Yes! 110mm and 188mm belts are extremely popular for building custom, geared "Direct Drive" extruders to push filament with higher torque.
Can I wash the belt if it gets dusty? You can wipe it down with a dry or slightly damp microfiber cloth. Avoid harsh chemical solvents like acetone, which will ruin the rubber.
What happens if I skip a tooth while installing? On a simple gear reduction for an extruder, skipping a tooth during installation doesn't matter (the ratio remains exactly the same).
How long will this belt last? Under normal indoor robotics use with proper tension, a high-quality reinforced GT2 belt will easily last for thousands of hours of continuous operation without shedding teeth.
Is there a smooth side to the belt? Yes, the inner circumference features the 55 rounded teeth, while the outer back of the belt is completely flat and smooth.
