Power your robotics and automation projects with the JGB37-520 12V 66 RPM gear motor. Features an all-metal 37mm cylindrical gearbox, a precision 6mm offset D-shaft, and six M3 mounting holes for rock-solid installation.
All-Metal Spur Gearbox Reliability Unlike cheaper plastic gearboxes that strip under pressure, the JGB37-520 utilizes an all-metal spur gear reduction system housed within a 37mm diameter cylindrical casing. This specific gearing ratio takes the high-speed rotation of the 12V internal coils and steps it down to a highly usable 66 Revolutions Per Minute (RPM). This balance of speed and torque makes it an excellent "middle-ground" motor, spinning fast enough for wheeled robots while providing enough torque to lift moderate payloads.
The Eccentric Offset Shaft One of the most defining characteristics of the 37mm gear motor series is its eccentric (offset) output shaft. Instead of protruding perfectly from the center of the gearbox, the shaft is offset to accommodate the internal spur gear layout. This 6mm stainless steel shaft features a deep "D-shape" flat cut that is 11.5mm long, ensuring wheels and pulleys can be locked down with a set screw without any risk of slipping.
Versatile 6-Hole Mounting Interface To handle the torque generated by the 37mm gearbox, secure mounting is critical. The front faceplate of the motor features six pre-tapped M3 mounting holes arranged in a circular pattern. This allows you to bolt the motor flush against flat chassis plates, custom 3D-printed mounts, or standard L-brackets with incredible rigidity.
Note: Please note that this motor will have a +/- 20% error in the RPM.

Mobile Robotics: Acting as the primary drive motors for 2-wheel or 4-wheel drive autonomous rovers where 66 RPM provides a brisk walking pace.
Automated Pet Feeders: Rotating an internal auger or paddle wheel to dispense dry dog or cat food at precise, slow intervals.
Smart Home Blinds & Curtains: Powering a spool mechanism to slowly and quietly draw heavy living room curtains open and closed.
Unlock New Capabilities (Project Evolution)
The Omni-Directional Mecanum Rover: Standard wheels are great, but Mecanum wheels allow a robot to slide sideways! Evolve your robotics skills by purchasing four of these JGB37-520 66 RPM motors. Mount them to an aluminum chassis using 37mm L-brackets. Use four 6mm Hex Hubs to attach four Mecanum wheels. Driven by an Arduino Mega and two dual-channel motor controllers, you can build an omni-directional rover that glides effortlessly across the floor in any direction!
1 x JGB37-520 DC12V 66 RPM Miniature Speed Reduction Gear Motor
What is the operating voltage? This motor is optimized to run on a 12V DC power supply.
What is the output speed? It spins at approximately 66 RPM (Revolutions Per Minute) at 12V with no load.
What size is the output shaft? The shaft has a 6mm outer diameter.
Why is the shaft not in the center? This is an eccentric (offset) gearbox. The internal spur gears require the final output shaft to be placed off-center.
What does "D-Shape" mean? The 6mm shaft has an 11.5mm long flat section machined into it (reducing the diameter to 5.5mm at the flat). This prevents wheels from slipping when a set screw is tightened against it.
Is this a worm gear motor? No. This uses cylindrical spur gears. Unlike worm gears, spur gears are generally not completely self-locking and can be carefully back-driven by hand.
Can I reverse the direction of rotation? Yes. By simply swapping the positive and negative connections on your 12V power supply, the motor will spin in the opposite direction.
What size mounting screws do I need? The gearbox face accepts standard metric M3 machine screws.
How many mounting holes are there? There are exactly six M3 threaded mounting holes on the face of the gearbox.
How long is the actual shaft? The protruding shaft is 15mm long in total.
Can I run this motor on 5V or 9V? Yes, a 12V DC motor will spin on lower voltages, but it will run proportionally slower and produce less torque.
Is this motor waterproof? No, the metal housing, seams, and rear solder terminals are exposed. It must be protected if used outdoors.
Can I control the speed of this motor? Yes, using a standard PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) speed controller or an H-Bridge, you can slow it down smoothly from 66 RPM to nearly a dead stop.
How do I connect wires to this motor? There are two metal solder tabs on the rear of the motor body. You will need a soldering iron to attach your wires.
Does the motor come with wires attached? No, it ships with bare solder terminals.
What is the diameter of the cylindrical motor body? The black/silver motor section behind the gearbox has a diameter of 33mm.
What is the diameter of the gearbox? The front silver gearbox is slightly larger, measuring 37mm in diameter.
What is the length of just the motor body? The rear motor section is 22mm long. The total length depends on the specific gearbox ratio ('L' dimension).
Will this work for a DIY smart blinds project? Yes, 66 RPM is a great speed for rolling up blinds, though you must ensure the motor has enough holding torque since it lacks the strong self-locking feature of a worm gear.
What type of coupling do I need to attach a wheel? You should use a 6mm rigid hex hub or a 6mm flexible shaft coupler that features a set screw to clamp down securely on the flat D-shaft profile.
