Compact Power & Self-Locking Mechanism Unlike standard planetary or spur gear motors, the JGY-370 utilizes a perpendicular worm drive mechanism. This design translates the high-speed rotation of the internal 12V motor into a steady, torque-heavy 90 RPM output. More importantly, it provides inherent self-locking. Because of the physics of a worm gear, the output shaft cannot be manually back-driven. When power is removed, the motor holds its exact position, acting as a mechanical brake for lifting or tensioning applications.
Precision 6mm D-Shaft To ensure maximum power transfer without slipping, the gearbox is equipped with a 6mm diameter stainless steel shaft. The shaft is 15mm long in total and features a deep 11.5mm "D-shape" flat cut. This flat edge gives the set screws on your pulleys, gears, and flange couplings a perfectly flat surface to bite into.
Secure Hardware Integration Despite its compact size, the JGY-370 is designed for solid structural mounting. The face of the rectangular gearbox features four pre-tapped M3 mounting holes. These holes are spaced precisely 18mm apart horizontally and 33mm apart vertically, allowing you to bolt the motor flush against metal brackets or 3D-printed chassis parts. Two solder tabs on the rear of the motor cylinder provide easy connections for your power wires.

What is the operating voltage for this motor? This motor is optimized to run on a 12V DC power supply.
What is the rotational speed? It spins at approximately 90 RPM (Revolutions Per Minute) at 12V with no load.
What size is the output shaft? The shaft has a 6mm outer diameter.
What does "D-Shape" mean? The cylindrical shaft has an 11.5mm long flat section machined into it (resembling the letter "D"), preventing wheels or pulleys from slipping when a set screw is tightened against it.
What is a "Worm Gear" motor? It uses a screw-like gear interfacing with a spur gear at a 90-degree angle. This provides massive gear reduction in a compact shape and creates a self-locking effect.
Is this motor self-locking? Yes. Due to the inherent friction of the worm gear design, the output shaft cannot be easily rotated by hand when the motor is off.
Can I reverse the direction of rotation? Yes. By simply swapping the positive and negative connections on your 12V power supply, the motor will spin in the opposite direction.
