Achieve extreme torque and slow, controlled motion with the JGB37-520 12V 7 RPM gear motor. Features a highly reduced all-metal 37mm cylindrical gearbox, a precision 6mm offset D-shaft, and six M3 mounting holes for heavy-duty installation.
Ultra-Slow Rotation, Maximum Torque While many gear motors are designed for driving wheeled robots, the JGB37-520 7 RPM variant is engineered strictly for heavy lifting and slow rotation. 7 RPM equates to slightly more than one full revolution every 8.5 seconds. Because the motor utilizes a massive internal gear reduction ratio to slow the output shaft down this much, it exponentially multiplies the torque. This allows the motor to hoist heavy loads, turn stubborn valves, or rotate heavy display bases with zero struggle.
Reliable All-Metal Spur Gearbox Unlike cheaper actuators that utilize plastic gears that strip under pressure, this unit houses an all-metal spur gear reduction system within its 37mm diameter cylindrical casing. This ensures that even when the motor is pushed to its stall limit, the internal teeth will hold up to the physical stress of your mechanical projects.
The Eccentric Offset Shaft A defining mechanical trait of the 37mm gear motor series is its eccentric (offset) output shaft. Rather than protruding perfectly from the center, the shaft is offset to accommodate the dense internal spur gear layout. The 6mm stainless steel shaft features a deep "D-shape" flat cut that is 11.5mm long, ensuring heavy-duty lift arms, winch spools, and pulleys can be locked down with a set screw without any risk of slipping under heavy torque.
Versatile 6-Hole Mounting Interface To handle the immense twisting force generated by this 7 RPM gearbox, secure mounting is absolutely critical. The front faceplate of the motor features six pre-tapped M3 mounting holes arranged in a circular pattern. This allows you to bolt the motor flush against flat chassis plates or heavy-duty L-brackets with incredible rigidity.
Note: Please note that this motor will have a +/- 20% error in the RPM.

Motorized Camera Sliders: Providing the incredibly slow, jitter-free pull required for cinematic macro timelapses.
Heavy-Duty Rotisseries / Turntables: Slowly rotating display items in storefronts or turning heavy components in DIY painting/welding booths.
Automated Winches & Hoists: Spooling up a heavy-duty line to slowly lift trap doors, heavy smart-blinds, or theater props.
Unlock New Capabilities (Project Evolution)
The Automated Sun-Tracking Solar Panel: Solar panels are most efficient when pointed directly at the sun, but the sun moves incredibly slowly. Pair this ultra-slow 7 RPM motor with an Arduino, two light-dependent resistors (LDRs), and an L298N motor driver. The Arduino can read the light difference and pulse this high-torque motor for just a second at a time, slowly tilting a heavy wooden or metal solar panel frame to perfectly track the sun from dawn to dusk!
1 x JGB37-520 DC12V 7 RPM Miniature Speed Reduction Gear Motor
What is the operating voltage for this motor? This motor is optimized to run on a standard 12V DC power supply.
How fast does 7 RPM actually spin? 7 Revolutions Per Minute means the shaft completes one full 360-degree turn approximately every 8.5 seconds. It is exceptionally slow.
Does this motor have more torque than the 66 RPM version? Yes, significantly more. Because the gear reduction is vastly higher to achieve 7 RPM, the torque output is multiplied drastically.
What size is the output shaft? The shaft has a 6mm outer diameter.
Why is the shaft off-center? This uses an eccentric gearbox design. The internal spur gears require the final output shaft to be placed off-center to fit the high reduction ratio inside the 37mm casing.
What does "D-Shape" mean? The 6mm shaft has an 11.5mm long flat section machined into it. This creates a "D" profile, preventing pulleys or hubs from slipping when a set screw is tightened against it.
Is this a worm gear motor? No. This motor uses cylindrical spur gears.
Is this motor self-locking? Spur gears are generally not completely self-locking like worm gears. However, because the gear reduction ratio is so massive on the 7 RPM model, there is extremely high mechanical resistance, making it very difficult to back-drive by hand.
Can I reverse the direction of rotation? Yes. By simply swapping the positive and negative power connections, the motor will spin in the reverse direction.
What size mounting screws do I need? The gearbox face accepts standard metric M3 machine screws.
How many mounting holes are there? There are exactly six M3 threaded mounting holes on the face of the gearbox.
How long is the actual shaft? The protruding shaft is 15mm long in total.
Can I run this motor on 5V? Yes, a 12V DC motor will spin on 5V, but it will run incredibly slow (around 3 RPM) and will lose a significant amount of its torque.
Is this motor waterproof? No, the metal housing, seams, and rear solder terminals are exposed to the elements. It must be protected in a weatherproof enclosure if used outdoors.
Can I control the speed of this motor? Yes, using a standard PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) DC motor speed controller, you can slow it down even further than 7 RPM.
How do I connect wires to this motor? There are two metal solder tabs on the rear of the black motor body. You will need a soldering iron to attach your power wires.
Does the motor come with wires already attached? No, it ships with bare solder terminals ready for your custom wiring.
What is the diameter of the cylindrical motor body? The black and silver motor section behind the gearbox has a diameter of 33mm.
What is the diameter of the gearbox? The front silver gearbox measures exactly 37mm in diameter.
Will this work for a DIY RC car? No, 7 RPM is far too slow for any standard wheeled rover or RC vehicle. This motor is meant specifically for heavy lifting, slow winches, or rotating display bases.
