Usage & Safety

• Ventilation: Probots Logic-Safe ⚠️ Warning: Flux produces fumes when heated. These fumes can be irritating to the respiratory system. Always use a fume extractor fan or work in a well-ventilated area.
• Cleaning: While this is a "No-Clean" formulation (meaning the residue won't eat your board), it leaves a sticky finish. We highly recommend cleaning with Isopropyl Alcohol (99% IPA) and a brush for a professional, dust-free finish.
• Storage: Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. For maximum shelf life, you can refrigerate it, but let it warm to room temperature before dispensing to ensure smooth flow.

• What is the difference between QSI and Amtech flux? QSI is a cost-effective, compatible formulation. It offers excellent performance for general rework at a lower price point than US-manufactured Amtech.
• Do I need a plunger to use this? Yes, this is a standard industrial syringe barrel. You can push it with a screwdriver handle in a pinch, but a plunger makes it easier.
• Is "No-Clean" really no clean? It means the residue is chemically inert and won't corrode the PCB over time. However, it stays sticky, so we recommend cleaning it off for aesthetic reasons.
• Can I use this for plumbing or jewellery? No. This is a rosin-based mild flux. Plumbing flux is acid-based and will destroy electronic circuits.
• Does this conduct electricity? No, the flux and its residue are non-conductive (insulative), making it safe for high-density circuits.
• Why is the flux hard to squeeze out? If it's cold, the viscosity increases. Warm the tube in your hands for a minute. If it's old, it may have dried, but our stock is rotated frequently.
• Can I use this with a soldering iron or just hot air? Both! It is excellent for "wetting" the tip of a soldering iron for drag soldering.
• Will this remove rust? It removes oxidation from copper and tin, but it is not a rust remover for steel or iron parts.
• Is this flux halogen-free? Standard ASM formulations usually contain some activators. Refer to specific MSDS if strict halogen-free compliance is required for industrial contracts.
• How long does the flux last on the board? It remains active until heated. Once heated to soldering temp, the activators are consumed.
• Can I mix this with old solder? Yes, that is its primary use case—fixing old joints by adding fresh flux and heat.
• Is it safe for plastic connectors? Generally yes, but prolonged exposure to high heat will melt the plastic regardless of the flux. The flux itself doesn't damage plastic.
• What color is the paste? It is a semi-transparent amber/yellow gel.
• Does it smell bad? It has a characteristic pine/rosin smell. It is not unpleasant to most, but fumes should not be inhaled.
• Can I use this to solder aluminum? No, aluminum requires specialized flux. This is for copper, tin, gold, and silver platings found on PCBs.
• Why does it smoke so much? Smoke indicates the flux is boiling and doing its job (cleaning oxides). If it smokes instantly and turns black, your iron is too hot (>400°C).
• Is this suitable for through-hole components? Yes, dipping the component leads in paste before inserting them makes soldering much faster.
• Can I refill a squeeze bottle with this? It is too thick for needle-nose bottles. It is designed for syringe dispensing.
