These inductive proximity switches are sensors used to detect the presence and position of objects by the electromagnetic induction principle, allowing noncontact sensing of metallic targets. They are widely used in a wide range of applications, including automation, production, and industrial control.
An inductive proximity sensor operates based on the electromagnetic induction principle. Typically, these sensors consist of a coil that generates an alternating electromagnetic field when powered. When a metallic object enters the sensor's sensing range, it disrupts the electromagnetic field, inducing eddy currents in the metal, which in turn disturb the magnetic field produced by the inductive proximity sensor, signalling the presence of the metal. The key advantage of these sensors is their non-contact nature, allowing for reliable and maintenance-free operation in harsh environments. They are immune to environmental factors like dust, dirt, and moisture, which makes them suitable for use in challenging industrial settings. They can also detect metallic objects regardless of their surface finish or colour, providing consistent performance across various materials. Widely used in manufacturing and conveyor lines across various industries for their rugged construction, reliability, and versatility.
This Inductive Proximity Sensor features an M4 Smooth Tube with a Probe head and allows a wider sensing range at the potential cost of false triggering from its surroundings. These sensors are best in applications where space is not an issue, and a broader sensing area is necessary. This will come with a small sensing range of 1mm and operates at 6-36 VDC and outputs a NPN NO signal.
These sensors are available in different housing designs to suit different application requirements. Check here for the different models
