CY7 Digital High-Frequency Counting Meter - 72x72mm Intelligent Controller ₹3,499.00 Struggling to get precise RPM readings from your custom robotics chassis, or trying to figure out why your mechanical axes aren't homing correctly? If you are building a motorized project, operating in an "open-loop" system—where you just send power to a motor and hope it spins at the right speed often leads to inaccurate navigation and sloppy control. Knowing exactly how fast your wheels are turning, or precisely what angle a robotic joint is positioned at, is the critical difference between a basic hobby toy and a professional-grade prototype.
The MOC7811 Optical Encoder Sensor is your tiny, highly reliable solution to this problem. At its core, this simple but incredibly effective slotted photointerrupter operates using a precisely matched infrared (IR) emitter and a phototransistor receiver mounted facing each other across a small air gap. When power is applied to the emitter side, the IR LED casts a continuous, invisible beam of light across this slot directly into the receiver.
The magic happens when you introduce a slotted encoder disk or a mechanical end-stop flag into that gap. Every time an opaque solid object breaks the infrared beam, the phototransistor briefly turns off, creating a distinct electrical pulse. By connecting this analog output to a comparator circuit and feeding it into your microcontroller, your Arduino, ESP32, or Raspberry Pi can count these pulses over time to calculate exact motor RPM, track linear distance traveled (odometry), or reliably detect the physical end-limit of a moving CNC track.
