1. How does this pen work without electricity or an air pump? It works like a syringe. Inside the pen is a spring and an airtight seal. Pushing the button pushes the air out. Letting go of the button allows the spring to pull back, creating a vacuum that sucks the component to the rubber tip.

2. What are the three little black pieces for? Those are interchangeable rubber suction cups. You use the small one for tiny components and the large one for heavy chips.

3. How do I install the suction cups? Simply push the rubber cup firmly over the end of the curved metal needle.

4. How do I release the chip once I've placed it? When you have the chip aligned on your PCB, simply press the black button on the pen again. This breaks the vacuum seal and drops the chip instantly.

5. Can I use this to pick up tiny 0402 or 0603 resistors? Yes, but it requires practice. You must use the smallest suction cup, and the surface of the resistor must be clean and flat to form a seal.

6. Will this damage sensitive electronics with static electricity? No, the black rubber suction cups are formulated with conductive/dissipative material to be ESD-safe (Anti-static).

7. Why won't the pen pick up my component? The vacuum requires a flat, non-porous surface to create a seal. If the top of your chip is deeply engraved, incredibly dirty, or curved, the rubber cup cannot form a proper vacuum.

9. Will the metal tip melt if I use it near a hot air gun? The metal needle will not melt, but you must be careful not to blast the rubber suction cup directly with 400°C air for extended periods, or the rubber will degrade.
