Whether you are building a simple "room-ba" style vacuum or a complex maze-solver, the Infrared Obstacle Avoidance IR Sensor Module provides a reliable, low-cost solution for real-time proximity detection. This module uses a beam of infrared light to "feel" the world in front of it, sending a digital signal to your controller the moment an object enters its path, effectively acting as a digital "bumper" for your machine.
The Probots Quality Advantage
Not all IR sensors are created equal. Many generic modules suffer from signal "noise" or poor soldering that leads to intermittent detection. Our modules are Probots™ Lab Verified , meaning they have been tested in our Bangalore facility to ensure the onboard comparator (LM393) provides clean, sharp switching. Furthermore, this module is Probots™ Logic-Safe , designed to interface seamlessly with 3.3V systems like the ESP32 and Raspberry Pi, as well as standard 5V Arduino boards, without the risk of logic level mismatch or damaged GPIO pins.
Technical Precision and Calibration
The module features a dual-head design: an IR transmitter and a receiver. The transmitter emits an infrared signal at a specific frequency; when an obstacle enters the detection range, the signal reflects back to the receiver. The sensitivity is fully adjustable via an onboard multi-turn potentiometer, allowing you to fine-tune the detection distance between 2cm and 30cm to suit your specific project needs. To ensure your hardware stays protected, we utilize Probots™ Secure-Transit packaging, ensuring the delicate IR LEDs arrive perfectly aligned and ready for deployment.
