The official 27W USB-C PD power supply is designed for Raspberry Pi 5. Delivers 5.1V at 5A max current. Supports standard PD modes (9V/3A, 12V/2.25A, 15V/1.8A) for universal usage.
The Raspberry PI 5 new 27W USB-C PD power supply offers fast, efficient charging at home, in the office or on the go. It delivers a maximum of 5.1V, 5A enabling the Raspberry Pi 5 to power a wider range of peripherals. The total power drawn from the four USB ports on Raspberry Pi 5 is limited by default to a nominal 600mA. This limit is automatically increased to a nominal 1.6A when the USB-C PD Power Supply is detected. The USB-C PD Power Supply is also capable of delivering 3A at 9V, 2.25A at 12V, and 1.8A at 15V to PD-compatible products. Pair it with Raspberry Pi or any USB-C enabled devices making it a good cost-effective power supply.
Why choose this over a generic USB-C charger
Most standard USB-C chargers are limited to 3A at 5V. The Raspberry Pi 5 specifically requires 5.1V at 5A to function without throttling and to supply a full 1.6A to your downstream USB peripherals. Using a lesser supply restricts USB output to just 600mA, limiting your ability to connect SSDs or heavy peripherals. This unit is Probots Source-Trace certified, meaning it comes directly from official distributors, guaranteeing you receive the genuine silicon capable of the precise PD negotiation required by the Foundation. We stock this to ensure your R&D doesn't stop due to "Low Voltage" warnings.

Key Applications & Projects
Home Media Centres: Runs the Pi 5 at full speed for 4K streaming without throttling.
Edge AI & Computer Vision: Provides stable current for AI hats and camera modules.
Network Attached Storage (NAS): Essential when powering external NVMe or SSD drives directly from the Pi's USB ports.
General Purpose PD Charging: Capable of charging PD-enabled mobile phones and tablets efficiently.
Project Evolution
The Bottleneck: If you are coming from a Raspberry Pi 4, your old 15W (5.1V/3A) supply is now a bottleneck. It physically cannot provide the current needed for the Pi 5's PCIe lane and boosted USB ports.
The Upgrade: This 27W supply acts as a "Key" that unlocks the Pi 5's firmware limit, automatically boosting the USB peripheral current limit from 600mA to 1.6A. This allows you to attach power-hungry hard drives without a powered hub.
Effort Level: Beginner. It is a strictly plug-and-play solution. The Probots™ Lab Verified ???? guarantee ensures the PD handshake happens instantly on boot.
Virtual Technician & Safety Guide
⚠️ Voltage Warning: While this supply supports standard PD voltages (9V/12V/15V), the Raspberry Pi 5 only uses the 5V rail. The higher voltages are strictly for other PD-compatible devices.
Wiring/Cable: The cable is captive (permanently attached). Do not attempt to extend it with low-quality USB-C extensions, as this will cause a voltage drop and trigger under-voltage warnings.
Heat Dissipation: Under full 27W load, the brick will get warm. This is normal operation. Ensure it is placed in a ventilated area.
Accessories & Compatibility
Included: 1x Official 27W USB-C Power Supply (Black).
Required (Sold Separately): Raspberry Pi 5 Board.
