PCA9685 16 Channel Servo Motor Driver Controller Module βΉ499.00 Designed for Circular Servo Horns Standard plastic servo arms flex and strip under heavy loads. In competitive robotics, builders upgrade to aluminum 25T circular servo horns. This L-bracket is mathematically optimized to mate perfectly with those circular metal horns! The vertical face features a large 14mm central bore to clear the servo spline, surrounded by four precisely spaced mounting holes. You simply bolt your metal servo horn directly to this bracket, creating a rock-solid, non-slip mechanical connection capable of transferring massive amounts of torque.
Rigid 90-Degree Architecture When a heavy robotic arm reaches full extension, the mechanical leverage exerts massive twisting forces on the joints. If your brackets are made of thin metal or 3D-printed plastic, the arm will sag, vibrate, and fail to reach its programmed coordinates. This bracket is stamped from a single piece of thick alloy and precisely bent to a rigid 90-degree angle. The wide mounting base features four spaced holes, ensuring the bracket cannot twist, rock, or shear away from your chassis or adjacent linkages.
The Foundation of Multi-Axis Robotics This simple L-bracket is the universal building block of multi-axis motion. By combining this L-bracket with standard "U-shaped" servo brackets, you can quickly build complex kinematics. It allows you to orient a servo parallel to your chassis deck, turn corners in a robotic limb, or create the crucial "tilt" axis in a camera tracking gimbal.
Specifications
Material: High-Strength Alloy Steel / Aluminum (Black Coated)
Mounting Angle: 90 Degrees (Right Angle)
Vertical Face Height: ~32.00mm
Base Length: 26.50mm
Central Clearance Hole: 14.00mm Diameter
Servo Horn Mounting Pattern: 4x holes (spaced to match standard round metal servo horns)
Compatible Screws: M3 (Metric 3mm)
Key Applications and Projects
6-Axis Robotic Arms: Acting as the primary structural "bones" connecting the shoulder, elbow, and wrist servos together in a high-torque DIY robotic arm.
Pan-Tilt Camera Gimbals: Utilizing the rigid 90-degree angle as the structural joint between a horizontal panning base servo and a vertical tilting servo for FPV cameras or sensors.
Bipedal & Hexapod Walkers: Constructing the articulating "coxa" (hip) and "femur" (thigh) joints required for insect-like robotic locomotion.
Unlock New Capabilities (Project Evolution) The AI Face-Tracking Turret: Don't just build static robots; give them vision! Grab two standard MG996R servos, this L-Shaped bracket, and a U-shaped bracket. Assemble them into a 2-axis Pan/Tilt mechanism. Mount a Raspberry Pi Camera Module to the tilt axis. By running a simple OpenCV face-tracking Python script on a Raspberry Pi, the script will calculate the X/Y coordinates of your face and command the servos to keep you perfectly dead-center in the frame. You have just built an automated, intelligent tracking turret!
1 x Black L-Shaped Servo Mounting Bracket
Q: How does this attach to my servo? This bracket does not attach directly to the plastic square body of the servo. It is designed to bolt onto a circular metal servo horn (usually 25T spline), which is then attached to the servo's output shaft.
Q: What size servos is this compatible with? It is designed for "Standard Size" servos (roughly 40mm x 20mm x 36mm) such as the incredibly popular MG996R, MG995, SG5010, and standard Futaba/HiTec servos, provided you are using the matching round metal horn.
Q: Will this fit a micro servo like an SG90 or MG90S? No, this bracket is much too large for micro servos. The hole spacing will not align with micro servo horns.
Q: What size screws do I need? You will need M3 (Metric 3mm) machine screws and nuts to bolt the bracket to your servo horn and your chassis.
Q: What is the large 14mm hole in the center for? The large central bore allows the raised spline/shaft of the servo (and the center screw of the servo horn) to protrude without rubbing against the metal bracket, ensuring frictionless rotation.
Q: Can I bend the bracket to a 45-degree angle? It is highly discouraged. The bracket is formed from hardened metal specifically to remain rigid at exactly 90 degrees. Attempting to bend it in a vice may crack the metal or warp the mounting holes, ruining alignment.
Q: How do I build a pan-tilt mechanism with this? You mount one servo flat on your desk (Pan). You attach an L-bracket to its horn so the bracket stands vertically. You then mount a second servo (Tilt) sideways onto that vertical face.
Q: Is the black coating electrically conductive? The black finish is typically a powder coat or anodized layer, which acts as a mild electrical insulator.
Q: Does it come with the mounting screws or the metal servo horn? No, this specific listing is for the bare metal L-bracket only. Servos, metal horns, and M3 hardware must be purchased separately.
Q: Why are there four holes on the base instead of just two? Using four screws to secure the base to your chassis spreads the load over a wider area. This provides significant "anti-twist" stability, ensuring the bracket doesn't tear out of your chassis when the servo lifts a heavy payload.
Q: Can I use this for 3D printed robot parts? Absolutely. While many people 3D print their own brackets, using these stamped metal brackets at the highest-stress joints (like the shoulder of a robot arm) prevents the plastic from snapping under load.
