IMAX-B6AC Battery Charger for Lithium Ion Polymer Lead Acid NiMH βΉ3,499.00 Nano-Scale Form Factor The "401020" designation identifies the physical footprint of the raw cell. Once you factor in the protective silver foil pouch and the protection circuit board folded at the top, the overall dimensions of this battery are a mere 23mm long, 10mm wide, and 5mm thick. This footprint is smaller than a standard postage stamp, making it the premier choice for embedding into ultra-small wearables like smart rings, custom hearing aids, or miniature spy-prop replicas where internal space is calculated in millimeters.
Built-in PCB Protection Despite its tiny size, safety has not been compromised. Tucked beneath the yellow Kapton tape at the top of the cell is a miniaturized Protection Circuit Board (PCB). This built-in Battery Management System (BMS) acts as a critical safety net, preventing the cell from catching fire due to overcharging (cutting off above 4.2V), saving the chemistry from over-discharging (cutting off near 3.0V), and instantly severing power if the output wires are short-circuited.
Optimal Discharge Characteristics The battery features a 50mm open-ended cable with bare red and black wires, ready to be soldered directly to your custom PCB. To ensure the longest possible lifespan and to safely extract the full 50mAh capacity, the manufacturer specifies discharging this cell at a rate of 0.2C. For a 50mAh battery, 0.2C equates to a continuous current draw of just 10mA. It is perfectly tailored for low-power microcontrollers (like the ATtiny85 or highly optimized ESP32s in deep sleep) and efficient Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) transmissions.
Safety Precautions :
Note: Product photos are for reference. Visual variations in printed branding may occur depending on current manufacturing stock, but the 50mAh capacity and physical footprint remain guaranteed
Model Number: 401020P
Chemistry: Lithium Polymer (LiPo)
Nominal Voltage: 3.7V
Fully Charged Voltage: 4.2V
Rated Capacity: 50mAh (Note: Labeling may vary slightly based on stock, e.g., 55mAh)
Optimal Discharge Rate: 0.2C (approx. 10mA)
Dimensions (L x W x H): 23mm x 10mm x 5mm
Cable Length: ~50mm
Connector: Open-ended (Bare wire)
Built-in Protection: Overcharge, Over-discharge, Short Circuit
Micro Wearables: Powering custom 3D-printed smart rings, tiny pendants, or electronic cufflinks that utilize Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE).
Covert IoT Nodes: Running ultra-low-power environmental sensors hidden inside hollowed-out books or tiny enclosures.
Model Making: Providing internal illumination for scale model trains, architectural dioramas, or miniature tabletop gaming terrain.
Unlock New Capabilities (Project Evolution)
The Smart Sleep Tracker: If you want to build your own wearable sleep tracker, this is the battery you need! Pair this 401020 cell with an ultra-low-power accelerometer (like the ADXL345) and a Bluetooth module (like the nRF52832). Because the optimal discharge rate is 10mA, optimizing your code to keep the Bluetooth chip in "sleep mode" most of the night will allow this tiny 50mAh battery to easily track your tossing and turning for several nights before needing a recharge!
1 x 401020P 50mAh 3.7V Lithium Polymer Battery pack (with internal protection PCB and 50mm open-ended wire)
What does "401020" mean? It signifies the standard dimensions of the bare internal cell: approximately 4.0mm thick, 10mm wide, and 20mm long.
What are the total outside dimensions of the battery? Including the protection circuit and outer wrapping, the total physical size is 23mm x 10mm x 5mm.
Why does the photo show 55mAh but the title says 50mAh? Product batches vary slightly from the manufacturer. You may receive a cell marked 55mAh, but the guaranteed minimum baseline capacity for this SKU is 50mAh.
What is the nominal voltage of this battery? The nominal (average operating) voltage is 3.7V.
What is the voltage when fully charged? A fully charged 1S LiPo battery will read exactly 4.2V.
Does this battery have built-in protection? Yes, there is a miniature protection PCB hidden under the yellow tape at the top of the battery.
What does the protection circuit actually do? It protects the battery chemistry from catching fire due to overcharging, prevents permanent damage from over-discharging, and protects against short circuits.
Are the wires open-ended or do they have a plug? This battery ships with 50mm open-ended (bare) wire leads. It does not come with a plastic JST connector.
Which wire is positive? The red wire is Positive (+), and the black wire is Negative (-).
What does "discharge at 0.2C" mean? "C" represents the total capacity of the battery. 0.2C means 20% of 50mAh, which is 10 milliamps (10mA). To get the maximum lifespan out of this tiny battery, your circuit should optimally draw around 10mA.
Will it break if I draw more than 10mA? No, it can provide bursts of higher current, but pulling heavy current continuously from such a small cell will cause the voltage to sag, draining it very quickly and potentially shortening its overall lifespan.
Can I charge this with a standard TP4056 module? Yes, BUT you must modify the module. Standard TP4056 modules charge at 1000mA (1A), which will instantly destroy this tiny 50mAh battery. You must desolder the programming resistor on the TP4056 and replace it with a higher value to drop the charge current down to ~25mA-50mA.
Can I wire this directly to a 5V USB cable to charge it? ABSOLUTELY NOT. Applying 5V directly to a LiPo battery will cause it to swell, vent toxic gas, and catch fire. You must use a dedicated Lithium-Ion charger circuit.
Can I power a 5V Arduino Uno with this? No. Standard Arduinos require 5V. This only outputs 3.7V, and it likely cannot provide the current an Uno requires without severe voltage sag.
What microcontrollers work best with this? Low-power 3.3V boards like the ATtiny85, specific Seeed Studio XIAO boards, or Nordic nRF52 series chips are ideal.
How long are the wires? The flexible wire leads are approximately 50mm (about 2 inches) long.
Can I cut the wires to make them shorter? Yes. CRITICAL WARNING: Always cut the wires one at a time. Cutting both the red and black wires simultaneously with metal snips will short-circuit the battery!
Can I wire two of these in series to get 7.4V? It is highly discouraged to wire individual, internally protected LiPo cells in series. The two independent protection boards can conflict and cause charging failures.
Why does my battery look puffy or swollen? LiPo batteries puff up when damaged, old, or severely over-discharged. If your battery swells, stop using it immediately and safely recycle it.
How should I store this battery if I am not using it for a while? Never store LiPo batteries fully charged (4.2V) or fully dead (3.0V). Store them at a "storage charge" of roughly 3.8V in a cool, dry, fire-safe location.
