FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQ)

1. What types of batteries can this charger handle? This charger is designed exclusively for Lithium Polymer (LiPo) batteries.

2. Can I charge NiMH or NiCd batteries with this? No. Attempting to charge Nickel-Metal Hydride (NiMH) or Nickel-Cadmium (NiCd) batteries with this LiPo charger is extremely dangerous and will result in damage or fire.

3. What do "2S" and "3S" mean? "S" stands for cells in Series. A 2S battery has 2 cells and a nominal voltage of 7.4V. A 3S battery has 3 cells and a nominal voltage of 11.1V.

4. Can I plug a 2S and a 3S battery into the charger at the same time? No. Absolutely never do this. Even though there are two separate ports, they share the same internal charging circuitry. Plugging in two batteries at once will overload the charger and cause a fire.

5. Do I need to buy a separate power adapter brick? No. Unlike some DC chargers, the IMAX B3 Pro has a built-in AC power supply. You just use the included cable to plug it directly into the wall.

6. Does it charge through the main thick wires (XT60, Deans, Tamiya)? No. This charger outputs power entirely through the small, white, multi-pin JST-XH balance connector on your battery. Leave the main power leads disconnected.

7. How long will it take to charge my battery? It charges at 800mA per hour. For a 1600mAh battery, it will take approximately 2 to 2.5 hours from a low state. A 2200mAh battery will take roughly 3 hours.

8. Is it safe to leave the charger unattended? No. You should never leave LiPo batteries unattended while charging. Always charge them in a fireproof LiPo bag and on a non-flammable surface.

9. Can I charge Li-Ion (Lithium-Ion) batteries with this? Technically, standard 3.7V nominal Li-Ion packs share the same 4.2V peak voltage as LiPos, so it will work if they have a JST-XH balance lead. However, it is optimized for LiPo.

10. Can I charge LiHV (High Voltage LiPo) batteries? You can charge them safely, but they will only be charged to 4.2V per cell (standard LiPo voltage). You will not get the full 4.35V per cell capacity that LiHV batteries offer.

11. Why is one light green while the others are still red? This is normal! It means the cell corresponding to the green light has reached 4.2V and is finished, while the charger is still "balancing" the remaining cells up to 4.2V.

12. What does it mean if all the lights flash red? This indicates an error. Usually, it means the battery's voltage is too low to safely charge, a cell is completely dead, or there is a short circuit. Unplug the battery immediately.

13. Does this charger have a "Storage Mode" feature? No. This is a basic charger that only charges to 100% capacity. To put batteries at the safe 3.8V storage voltage, you must manually monitor them with a voltage checker while discharging them in your RC vehicle.

14. Can I use this in the United States (110V)? The internal power supply accepts 100-240V, meaning it handles US voltage perfectly. However, this specific model comes with an EU plug. You would need a simple, cheap EU-to-US plug adapter for the wall.

15. Can I charge a 1S (3.7V) drone battery with this? No. There is no port for a 1-cell battery.

16. Can I charge a 4S (14.8V) or 6S (22.2V) battery? No. The ports and internal circuitry only support up to 3 cells (3S).

17. What happens when the battery is completely full? All three LED lights will turn solid green, and the charger will stop outputting current to the battery. You should unplug the battery at this point.

18. Why does the charger get warm during use? It is normal for the charger to become warm to the touch while charging, as it is converting 240V AC down to ~12V DC internally. However, it should never be too hot to handle comfortably.

19. How do I know which way to plug in the white balance connector? The ports on the front of the charger have small plastic guides (slots) at the top. The white JST-XH plug on your battery will have corresponding plastic ridges. It will only slide in easily one way. Do not force it.

20. My battery is slightly puffed/swollen. Can I still charge it? No. A puffed LiPo battery indicates internal chemical degradation and gas buildup. Charging a swollen battery drastically increases the risk of it catching fire. Safely dispose of puffed batteries immediately.
