Efficient liquid thermal management for custom engineering. The Thermoelectric Peltier Cooling System DIY Kit provides the heavy-duty mechanical framework for makers looking to build custom liquid chillers, miniature air conditioners, or precision temperature control loops.
⚠️ IMPORTANT NOTE: This DIY kit includes the structural heatsinks, fans, and water block only. A Thermoelectric Peltier Module (such as the standard TEC1-12706) is NOT included and must be purchased separately to complete the chilling system.
This kit is built around a central blue aluminium water cooling block, designed to allow water or coolant to pass through its internal channels. To complete the system, you simply sandwich your own Peltier module between the water block and the primary heatsink using thermal paste. To ensure your chosen thermoelectric process remains highly efficient, the assembly uses a dual-sided dissipation strategy, utilizing thick aluminum extruded heatsinks and active 12V brushless DC fans to pull waste heat away from the hot side of your TEC module.
The kit can be used with 2 Peltier modules each on one side. Can also be used with cooling on only one side.
Aquarium/Hydroponics Chiller: Adding a TEC module to maintain optimal water temperatures for sensitive aquatic life during hot summer months.
PC Liquid Cooling Loop: Acting as the convective cooling stage within a custom computer water-cooling system.
Laser Tube Cooling: Stabilizing the temperature of low-wattage CO2 laser tubes or high-power electronics.
Unlock New Capabilities (Project Evolution)
Custom Power Scaling: Because the Peltier is not included, you have the freedom to install a low-power TEC1-12704 for gentle cooling, or a high-power TEC1-12710 for aggressive chilling!
Temperature Automation: Connect your fans and your chosen Peltier to a W1209 Digital Thermostat Controller to automatically cycle the cooling process based on liquid temperature.
Package Includes:
NOTE: Peltier Module and Thermal Paste are explicitly NOT included.
Does this kit include a Peltier module? No, this kit provides the fans, heatsinks, and water block only. You must purchase a Peltier module separately.
Which Peltier module should I buy for this? The hardware is designed to perfectly fit a standard 40x40mm module, such as the popular TEC1-12706.
What is the blue block in the middle? That is an aluminium water block. Liquid flows through it, and your installed Peltier module extracts heat from it.
What voltage do the included fans require? The dual cooling fans operate on 12V DC.
How do I install the Peltier module? You must unscrew the assembly, apply thermal paste to both sides of your Peltier, and sandwich it between the blue water block (cold side) and the large silver heatsink (hot side).
Which side of the Peltier goes against the water block? Typically, the "cold" side of a Peltier is the side with the printed text/model number. This side should face the blue water block.
Is thermal paste included? No, because you are supplying your own Peltier, you will also need to supply your own thermal grease for assembly.
Do I need a water pump? Yes, the kit does not include a pump. You must use an external water pump to circulate the liquid through the block.
What size tubing do I need? The nozzles on the blue water block are sized for silicone or PVC tubing with an 8mm Inner Diameter (ID).
How much current do the fans draw? The two 12V fans draw a very low current, typically around 0.3A to 0.5A combined.
Can I use this to cool a CPU directly? You cannot mount this directly to a CPU. However, you can use it to chill the water inside a custom PC water-cooling loop.
Will condensation form on the block? Yes, if your chosen Peltier drives the water block below the ambient dew point, condensation will form. Insulate the block if used in humid environments.
Can this kit heat liquid instead of cooling it? Yes, by reversing the electrical polarity (+ and -) of your installed Peltier module, it will pump heat into the water block instead of extracting it.
How cold can it make water? This depends entirely on the wattage of the Peltier module you choose to install and the efficiency of your water pump.
Is it suitable for a 20-litre aquarium? Yes, when paired with a TEC1-12706, this hardware setup is very popular for cooling nano-reefs and small aquariums.
Are the fans noisy? They are standard 12V brushless DC fans; they produce a moderate hum similar to a desktop computer.
Can I submerge this kit in water? No! Only the inside of the blue water block is designed for liquid. The fans will short circuit if submerged.
What is the purpose of the two fans? The dual fans push/pull air through the aluminum fins to dissipate the large amount of waste heat generated by the hot side of your Peltier module.
Can I run it without water flowing? Once your Peltier is installed, it is highly discouraged. Running a Peltier without liquid flowing to absorb the thermal energy can permanently damage the module.
How do I secure the water tubing? It is recommended to use small zip-ties or metal hose clamps over the tubing once it is pushed onto the blue nozzles.
