• How does the ACS712 measure current?
  It uses the Hall Effect. Current flowing through the heavy copper path generates a magnetic field, which the sensor translates into a proportional voltage without physically intersecting the sensing logic.
• Can the ACS712 measure AC current?
  Yes, it can measure both AC and DC current. For AC, the output voltage will oscillate as a sine wave around the 2.5V center point.
• Can the ACS712 measure DC current?
  Yes. Positive DC current increases the voltage above 2.5V, and negative DC current decreases it below 2.5V.
• What is the sensitivity of the ACS712 5A module?
  The 5A version has a sensitivity of 185 mV/A (millivolts per Ampere).
• What is the zero-current output voltage of the ACS712?

  Fluctuations are normal, especially when measuring AC or noisy DC motors. You should use software smoothing (taking the average of 10-100 readings) in your code to get stable results.
• Do I need a bypass capacitor for the ACS712?
  The breakout board already includes a filter capacitor (usually 1nF) on the FILTER pin to manage noise and set the bandwidth.
• How do I wire the ACS712 to a load?
  It must be wired in series. Cut the positive wire going to your motor/appliance and connect one end to one screw terminal and the other end to the second screw terminal.
• Is it safe to measure 230V AC mains with this module?
  While the IC has high isolation, the physical breakout board traces are close together. It is technically capable, but strict safety precautions (enclosures, proper wiring) are mandatory to prevent arc faults.
• What is the internal resistance of the ACS712 conductor?
  It is extremely low, typically around 1.2 mΩ, meaning it drops almost zero voltage and generates very little heat.
• Can the ACS712 be used for reverse current detection?
