1. Does this strobe light make any sound? No. This specific model is entirely silent. It does not contain an internal buzzer, siren, or hooter, making it perfect for visual-only warnings.
2. What voltage does it require? It requires exactly 12 Volts Direct Current (12V DC) to operate correctly.
3. Can I plug this directly into a wall outlet? Absolutely not. Plugging this 12V DC device directly into a 110V or 220V AC wall outlet will instantly destroy the LEDs and create a severe fire hazard. You must use a 12V DC power adapter.
4. How do I wire it up? It has two wires. Connect the Red wire to the Positive (+) 12V source, and the Black wire to the Negative (-) Ground source.
5. Does it flash automatically, or do I need a separate flasher circuit? It flashes automatically. The internal circuit board contains the necessary logic. The moment you apply 12V power to the wires, the LEDs will begin strobing.
6. Can I change the flashing speed or pattern? No. The strobe pattern and speed are hardcoded into the internal circuitry and cannot be adjusted.
7. Can I connect this directly to an Arduino or Raspberry Pi? You cannot connect the power wires directly to the GPIO pins of a microcontroller. The pins only output 5V or 3.3V at very low current. You must use the microcontroller to trigger a 12V Relay Module or a MOSFET, which then switches the 12V power to the strobe.
8. Is it fully waterproof? It is designed to be highly weather-resistant and is suitable for outdoor use. However, it should be mounted upright (dome facing out/up) and should not be fully submerged underwater.
9. How do I mount it to a wall? The package includes a black base plate. You screw or stick the base plate to the wall using the provided hardware, and then twist-lock the red strobe light assembly onto the base plate.
10. What are the exact dimensions? The diameter of the base is 73mm, and the total height of the unit (base to the top of the dome) is 44mm.
11. How long are the power wires? The pre-attached red and black wire leads are approximately 220mm (22cm) long.
12. Can I use a 9V battery to power it? A standard 9V battery might briefly illuminate the LEDs dimly, but it will not provide enough voltage for the strobe circuit to function reliably or brightly. A 12V source is required.
13. Are the LEDs replaceable? No. The high-intensity Surface Mount Device (SMD) LEDs are soldered directly to the internal circular circuit board and cannot be individually replaced.
14. What kind of plastic is the red dome made from? The red dome is typically molded from durable, UV-resistant acrylic or polycarbonate to ensure high light transmission and impact resistance.
15. Can I use this on a 12V car or boat battery? Yes. A standard 12V automotive or marine lead-acid battery is a perfect power source for this strobe light.
16. Does polarity matter when wiring it? Yes, polarity is critical. If you reverse the wires (connecting Red to Negative and Black to Positive), the LEDs will not light up, and you may damage the internal circuitry.
17. What is the double-sided adhesive pad for? If you do not want to drill holes in a surface (like a metal gate box or a glass window), you can use the included adhesive pad to stick the base plate securely in place.
18. Will the red dome fade in the sun? Prolonged exposure to intense, direct sunlight over several years may cause slight fading of the red plastic, but it is formulated to resist UV degradation for a significant period.
19. Can I wire multiple strobe lights to one power supply? Yes, you can wire multiple strobes in parallel to a single 12V power supply, provided the power supply has a high enough Amperage rating to handle the combined current draw of all the lights.
20. Why do the LEDs look like a circle inside? The internal circuit board is circular, and the LEDs are arranged in a ring to ensure the light is projected evenly in 360 degrees, maximizing visibility from all angles through the faceted dome.
