• Bracket Selection is Key:

  • Standard Out-Swing Door: The included flat plate mounts directly. No extra bracket needed (usually).

  • In-Swing Door: You MUST use a Z-Bracket (sold separately). Without it, the magnet will be on the wrong side of the door.

  • Narrow Frame: If your door frame is too thin to screw the magnet flat, use an L-Bracket.

  • Glass Door: Use a U-Bracket (clamps onto glass without drilling).

• Wiring Logic: This lock requires continuous 12V power to stay locked. Use a 12V 2A Power Supply with battery backup (UPS) if you want security during power cuts.

• The "Wiggle" Rule: Do not over-tighten the centre bolt on the Armature Plate (the steel bar on the door). It needs a rubber washer (included) and slight movement to align flat against the magnet. If it's too tight, the lock force will be weak.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

1. Will this work on a glass door?

   • Yes, but you cannot drill into tempered glass. You must buy a U-Bracket specifically for 280kg locks to clamp the armature plate onto the glass.

2. Is it waterproof?

   • This model is designed for Indoor or Covered use (IP54). It can withstand humidity but should not be exposed to direct rain. For outdoor gates, install it inside a protective housing.

3. Does it lock when the power goes out?

   • No. It is Fail-Safe. It unlocks when power is lost. This is required for fire safety. For security during power cuts, connect it to a 12V Battery Backup / UPS.

4. How much power does it use?

   • It draws about 500mA (0.5A) continuously while locked.

5. Can I connect it to an Arduino?

   • Yes, but NOT directly. You need a Relay Module (5V to 12V) because the lock requires 12V/0.5A, which will fry an Arduino pin.

6. Can I use a 24V supply?

   • No! This model is wound for 12V DC. Connecting 24V will overheat and burn the coil within minutes.

7. Why is the lock weak (easy to pull open)?

   • 99% of the time, this is because the Armature Plate is too tight. Loosen the center bolt slightly so the plate can "wiggle" and sit perfectly flat against the magnet. Also, check your voltage (must be >11V).

8. Does it have an LED indicator?

   • Standard models usually do not, but some batches may have a status LED. (Check specific inventory photos).

9. Can I use this on a sliding door?

   • Yes, maglocks work great on sliding doors because they don't have a mechanical latch to align.

10. What is the difference between this and the 60kg lock?

    • The 60kg lock is for cabinets. This 280kg lock is for full-sized doors. A human can pull open a 60kg lock; they cannot pull open a 280kg lock.

11. Do I need a Z-Bracket?

    • If your door opens INWARDS (towards the magnet), YES, you need a Z-Bracket. If it opens OUTWARDS, you usually don't.

12. Can I use a normal switch to operate it?

    • Yes, a simple ON/OFF switch on the power line will lock/unlock it.

13. Is the mounting template included?

    • Yes, a paper sticker template is included to help you drill holes accurately.

14. How heavy is the lock?

    • The entire package weighs about 2kg. Ensure your door frame is strong enough to hold it.

15. Does it make noise?

    • No, it is completely silent when locked.

16. Can I paint it to match my door?

    • You can spray paint the aluminum housing, but NEVER paint the magnetic face. Paint creates a gap that drastically reduces holding force.
