IR thermal camera is a device that uses infrared radiation to capture thermal images and videos of objects and environments. It can detect the temperature of objects and display them as a color image or video. IR thermal cameras use a special lens to focus infrared radiation onto a sensor that produces an electronic signal based on the intensity of the radiation. The signal is then processed to create a thermal image or video.

This MLX90640BAA Thermal Image Camera Module is a 32x24 pixel device with a large Field of view angle of 110*75 degrees that suits for close range measurement and features with measure object temperatures between -40°C and 300°C, it has a -40°C to 85°C operational temperature range, Maintaining high levels of precision across its full measurement scale, this infrared sensor delivers a typical target object temperature accuracy of ±1°C. It also exhibits superior noise performance. It has an I2C-compatible digital interface with simplified integration

These IR thermal cameras have various applications, including medical diagnosis, building inspection, firefighting, and surveillance. They are also used in the automotive industry to detect overheating components and in-home energy audits to identify areas of heat loss. IR thermal cameras are highly sensitive and can detect temperature differences as small as 0.01C, making them a powerful tool for identifying potential problems before they become major issues, and also provide a non-invasive and highly accurate method of measuring temperature and have numerous practical applications in a variety of industries.
