Linear Ball Bearing Slide Unit CNC 3D Printer SC12UU 12 mm βΉ699.00 The Heavy-Duty Standard When 8mm rods start to flex under the weight of a heavy heated bed or a CNC router spindle, 10mm is the next logical step. The LM10UU provides the foundational linear guidance for these upgraded axes. It requires a 10mm hardened smooth steel rod to operate. When lubricated and paired properly, the bearing glides up and down the rod with virtually zero friction, giving your machine immense rigidity without sacrificing movement speed.
Recirculating Ball Technology If you peer inside the 10mm bore, you will see rows of tiny hardened steel balls held securely by a black polymer cage. As the bearing pushes forward along the shaft, the balls roll straight down their track, physically carrying the payload. Once they reach the end of the cylinder, the internal cage guides them to loop backward through a return channel, continuously cycling them to the front again. This "recirculating" design ensures endless travel distance.
Precision Dimensions & Dual Seals (UU) The LM10UU is engineered to exact specifications: 10mm inner diameter, 19mm outer diameter, and 29mm in total length. The "UU" designation means it is equipped with double rubber seals at both ends. These seals act as wipers, gently hugging the 10mm rod to clear away sawdust, metal shavings, and filament debris before they can enter the bearing and jam the tracks. The outer metal shell also features two machined grooves, allowing you to lock the bearing into a housing using standard external snap rings.
Model Designation: LM10UU
Bearing Type: Linear Motion Ball Bearing
Inner Diameter (Bore): 10mm
Outer Diameter: 19mm
Overall Length: 29mm
Seal Type: UU (Double Rubber End Seals)
Outer Shell Material: Carbon Steel
Ball Retainer Material: Polymer
Dynamic Load Rating (C): ~372 N
Static Load Rating (Co): ~549 N
Desktop CNC Routers: Upgrading the X and Y axes to 10mm thick rods to prevent spindle chatter when cutting hardwoods or soft metals.
Large-Format 3D Printers: Providing the stiff guidance needed for heavy 300mm+ aluminum heated print beds that would normally bend 8mm rods.
Automated Camera Sliders: Supporting heavy DSLR rigs on long rails where bowing in the middle of the track would ruin a cinematic panning shot.
Unlock New Capabilities (Project Evolution)
The Automated Heavy-Duty Drawer: Standard drawer slides have quite a bit of "slop" and friction. Evolve your workshop storage! By mounting 10mm steel rods to the sides of a cabinet and pressing these LM10UU bearings into custom 3D-printed brackets on your drawer, you can create an ultra-smooth, perfectly constrained pull-out drawer. Hook it up to a linear actuator and an Arduino, and you have a motorized, sci-fi style tool rack that glides open at the push of a button!
Package Includes:

What does "LM10UU" stand for? "LM" stands for Linear Motion. "10" indicates the 10mm inner bore. "UU" signifies that it has double rubber end seals.
What are the exact dimensions? It has a 10mm inner diameter, 19mm outer diameter, and is 29mm long.
What kind of rod do I need for this? You must strictly use a 10mm precision smooth rod. Hardened steel or chrome-plated steel rods are required.
Can I use these on aluminum or carbon fiber rods? No. The hardened steel balls inside the bearing will quickly dig trenches into softer materials like aluminum, ruining both the rod and the bearing.
Do these need to be lubricated? Yes! Out of the box, they are coated in a thin anti-rust shipping oil. Before use, you must pack them with a light machine oil or white lithium grease for smooth, quiet operation.
Are these bearings directional? No. They are perfectly symmetrical and can be slid onto your 10mm rod from either direction.
What are the two grooves on the outside of the metal shell? Those are retaining ring grooves. They allow you to lock the bearing securely inside a tubular housing using standard metal circlips (snap rings).
What is the difference between an LM10UU and an LM10LUU? The "L" in LUU stands for "Long." An LM10LUU is an extended 55mm long version, whereas this standard LM10UU is 29mm long.
Can this bearing handle rotational movement? NO. This is strictly a linear bearing. Spinning the shaft rapidly inside the bearing (like an axle) will derail the balls and destroy the polymer cage.
Are they waterproof? No. While the rubber seals help keep dust out, the high-carbon steel shell and internal balls will rust rapidly if exposed to water or high humidity without heavy grease.
Why do they sound "scratchy" or loud out of the box? A "scratchy" sound usually means there is microscopic manufacturing dust inside, or they lack proper lubrication. Flushing them with Isopropyl Alcohol, letting them dry, and repacking them with lithium grease will usually silence them.
Will the balls fall out if I take the bearing off the rod? No, the black polymer cage inside the bearing physically retains the steel balls. You can slide them on and off shafts freely without losing balls.
How do I properly press this into an aluminum block? If press-fitting it into an SC10UU block or custom mount, apply pressure only to the outer steel rim. Pressing on the rubber seal or the inner cage will instantly destroy the bearing.
How much weight can a single LM10UU handle? It has a dynamic load rating of approximately 372 Newtons (about 37 kg / 83 lbs). However, for maximum lifespan, you should use multiple bearings in parallel to distribute the load.
What does the black rubber ring on the ends do? It acts as a physical wiper. As the bearing moves, it wipes dust and debris off the steel rod so it doesn't get ground into the internal ball tracks.
How many ball circuits does this bearing have? Standard 10mm linear bearings typically feature four distinct recirculating ball tracks spaced evenly around the inside of the polymer cage.
Can these handle side-loads (twisting forces)? Linear bearings are designed for direct radial loads. Strong twisting forces (moments) will cause them to bind and scrape against the shaft. Always use them in pairs or sets of three/four on parallel rails to prevent twisting.
Do they have a break-in period? Yes. Once installed and greased, manually running your carriage back and forth along the rods will distribute the lubricant and help seat the balls, leading to significantly smoother operation.
Can I 3D print a mount for this? Yes! 3D printing a custom carriage block with a 19mm diameter hole and securing the bearing with heavy-duty zip-ties is a very common and effective DIY mounting method.
Can I use these to upgrade my standard Creality Ender 3? No. The Ender series uses Delrin V-wheels rolling on aluminum extrusions, not smooth rods. To use these, you would have to completely redesign the machine's motion mechanics to support 10mm steel shafts.
