Unlike the flimsy adhesive-backed boards that slide around your desk, this unit is screw-mounted to a Heavy-Duty Aluminium Backplate with rubber feet. It provides a rock-solid foundation for complex circuits, keeping your components stable and your wiring neat.
The Probots Quality Advantage The ZY-204 isn't just bigger; it's smarter. It features 3 Colour-Coded Binding Posts (Red, Black, Green/Blue) at the top. This allows you to connect your bench power supply using standard Banana Plugs, keeping the high-current mess away from your delicate jumper wires. The internal contacts are phosphor bronze with a nickel finish, rated for 10,000+ insertions, ensuring your components don't get loose over time.

Binding Posts: These are not internally connected to the breadboard rails by default. You must run a wire from the binding post screw terminal to the power rail of your choice.
Gaps: There is a standard spacing gap between the two main boards, allowing you to bridge them if needed, but they are electrically isolated.
Current Limits: While the posts can handle amps, the breadboard tracks themselves are best kept under 1A to avoid voltage drop or heating.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Are the binding posts connected to the power rails automatically? No. This is a common misconception. You must run a short wire from the hole in the binding post shaft to the +/- rail you want to power.
Can I detach the breadboards from the metal plate? Yes, they are screwed on (or stuck on with strong adhesive depending on the batch), but the plate is what gives it stability.
Does it fit banana plugs? Yes! The top caps of the binding posts unscrew to reveal a 4mm socket for standard banana plugs.
Is this just two 830 boards stuck together? Essentially, yes, but they are mounted on a single rigid plate which makes a huge difference for usability compared to loose boards.
Can I add more binding posts? There are typically only 3 holes drilled in the plate. Adding more would require drilling metal.
What is the "Green" post for? Usually Ground (GND) or a third voltage rail (like -12V or 5V logic vs 12V motor power).
Will the components fall out if I turn it upside down? If the components are standard leads (0.5-0.8mm), they are held very tightly. Thin wires might be loose.
Does it come with jumper wires? No, this is the board only.
Is the backplate conductive? It is painted aluminum. It is conductive if you scratch the paint. Be careful not to let loose live wires touch the metal base.
Can I use this for high voltage (110V/220V)? Absolutely Not. Breadboards are for low voltage (<30V) prototyping only.
How much does it weigh? Around 350g-400g. It feels substantial.
Why is this better than the transparent ones? The opaque white plastic is standard for visibility. Transparent ones are brittle; this ABS plastic is durable.
Can I connect multiple ZY-204s together? You can place them side-by-side, but they don't snap together like the smaller plastic ones.
What is the gap in the middle for? It accommodates standard DIP ICs (Integrated Circuits) so pins don't short out.
Is it shielded? The metal plate offers some EMI shielding if you ground the plate itself, but it's not a Faraday cage.
How do I clean it? Compressed air. Do not use water or solvents as they can trap moisture inside the contacts.
Can I use stranded wire? No. Stranded wire will bunch up and not insert. Use solid core wire or tinned tips.
Are the contacts gold plated? No, they are usually Nickel-plated Phosphor Bronze.
What is the max current? Keep it under 1A per rail for accurate results.
Is this made in India? Most ZY-series boards are imported, but they are the global standard for education.
