Industrial-grade 24V mini electromagnetic lock with 60kg (132 lbs) holding force. Compact design ideal for securing automated cabinets, machine guards, lockers, and showcases—fail-safe operation (unlocks when power is cut).
The LockIT LEML-60-24 is a specialized "Mini" electromagnetic lock designed for systems running on 24V DC. While most cabinet locks operate on 12V, this unit is engineered for industrial control panels, PLC-driven machine guards, and commercial fire systems that utilize a 24V standard. With a holding force of 60kg (132 lbs), it provides a strong, reliable hold for cupboard doors, sliding drawers, and equipment hatches without the bulk of a full-sized door magnet.
PLC Ready (24V) : No need for buck converters or separate power supplies. This lock integrates directly into 24V automation, robotics, and access control loops.
Fail-Safe Safety : Designed for safety-critical applications. In the event of a power outage or emergency stop, the lock releases immediately, allowing instant access to the cabinet or enclosure (essential for fire safety compliance).
Silent Operation: Unlike solenoid latches that "clack" loudly, this electromagnetic lock operates in near silence, making it ideal for office furniture or display cases.
We offer a variety of lock and sensor models with unique features and specifications. Click here to opt perfect model for your application.

Model: LEML-60-24
Operating Voltage: 24V DC
Holding Force: 60kg / 132 lbs (Linear Pull)
Current Draw: Approx. 120mA - 150mA
Lock Type: Fail-Safe (Power to Lock, Power-off to Open)
Magnet Dimensions: 80mm (L) x 38mm (W) x 25mm (H)
Armature Plate Dimensions: 75mm (L) x 33mm (W) x 10mm (H)
Material: Anodised Aluminium Housing (Rust Resistant)
Weight: ~0.6 kg
Industrial Machinery: Locking safety guards or inspection hatches on CNC machines (controlled by PLC).
Smart Lockers: Secure storage for gyms, offices, or package delivery systems running on 24V backbones.
Retail Display: Securing valuable jewellery or electronics showcases.
Home Automation: Cabinet locking systems integrated with 24V smart home hubs (e.g., KNX/Loxone).
Alignment is Critical: The steel "Armature Plate" (the part on the moving door) must remain slightly loose on its mounting screw. It needs to "wiggle" slightly to align perfectly flat against the magnet. If you tighten it too rigidly, the lock holding force will drop significantly.
Power Requirement: This is a 24V DC device. Do not connect to 12V (it will be too weak) or 220V (it will burn instantly).
Switching Logic: To control this with a microcontroller (Arduino/ESP32), you cannot power it directly from a GPIO pin. Use a Relay Module or MOSFET to switch the 24V power.
Included:
1 x Electromagnetic Lock Body (24V)
1 x Armature Plate
1 x Mounting Screw & Allen Key Kit
Required (Sold Separately):
24V DC Power Supply
Switch / Relay / Access Control Keypad
Can I use this on a 12V battery?
No. It is wound for 24V. On 12V, it will have very weak magnetic force and will be easy to pull open.
Does it get hot?
It will get warm to the touch (approx 40-50°C) during continuous operation. This is normal for electromagnets.
Does it have a status LED?
No, the mini 60kg version is a simple 2-wire device without LED or sensor feedback.
Is it waterproof?
No. It is designed for indoor use. Direct rain exposure can damage the coil epoxy.
How do I unlock it?
Simply cut the power. You can wire a "Normally Closed" (NC) push button in series with the power wire to act as an exit button.
Can I use it for a main house door?
No. 60kg is strong, but a human adult can pull it open with enough force. For main doors, use 280kg (600lbs) locks.
What happens if the power goes out?
The door unlocks (Fail-Safe). If security during power cuts is required, you need a UPS or Battery Backup.
Does it have residual magnetism?
The lock has a built-in anti-residual magnetism pin on the armature plate to ensure the door pops open instantly when power is cut.
Can I mount it on a sliding door?
Yes, but you may need a custom "Z-Bracket" or "L-Bracket" depending on your door frame geometry.
Why is the armature plate loose?
It is supposed to be loose! The rubber washer allows it to self-align with the magnet for maximum grip. Do not over-tighten it.
What is the screw size for mounting?
The main armature screw is typically M8. The magnet mounts with M4/M5 screws (included).
Can I use this on a glass door?
Yes, but you will need a specialized "U-Bracket for Glass" (sold separately) since you cannot drill into tempered glass.
Is there a polarity (+/-)?
No, standard electromagnets are non-polarized solenoids. You can connect + and - either way.
How much current does it consume?
Approx 120mA to 150mA at 24V.
Can I control it with an Arduino?
Yes, by using a 5V Relay Module to switch the 24V power source.
Is it suitable for a 3D printer enclosure?
Yes, it's perfect for keeping enclosure doors shut during prints and unlocking them automatically when done (via OctoPrint relay).
Does it make a noise when unlocking?
No, it is silent. You might hear a faint "click" of the armature plate releasing.
What wire gauge should I use?
Since the current is low (<0.2A), standard 0.5mm² (20-22AWG) wire is sufficient for runs up to 10-15 meters.
Can I paint the lock?
You can paint the housing, but NEVER paint the magnetic face or the armature plate. Even a thin layer of paint will reduce the holding force to near zero.
Is the brand LockIT reliable?
LockIT is known for cost-effective, industrial-grade access control components suitable for both DIY and commercial integration.
