Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

• Is this a direct replacement for the stock Ender 3 fan? Not physically. The stock fan is a 4010 blower. This is a larger 5015 blower. You must print a mounting bracket (duct) to attach it to your print head.
• Can I plug this directly into my Ender 3 motherboard? Yes, electrically it is compatible (24V). However, check the connector polarity (Red vs Black position) as Creality boards often swap them.
• Do I need a buck converter for this? No! Since this is a 24V fan, it runs natively on the 24V power supply of most modern printers (Ender 3, CR-10, Artillery Sidewinder).
• Why is my fan making a whining noise at low speeds? This is PWM noise. In Marlin firmware, enabling FAN_SOFT_PWM usually fixes this. It is not a defect of the fan.
• Can I run two of these fans on one port? Yes, splicing two 5015 fans in parallel (Red-to-Red, Black-to-Black) is a popular upgrade. Ensure your board fan MOSFET can handle ~0.3A (most can).
• Will this work on a Prusa i3 MK3S? The Prusa MK3S uses a 5V fan (Noctua/Delta). This 24V fan will NOT work directly on a stock Prusa MK3S without finding a 24V source.
• Is this fan ball bearing or sleeve bearing? This model uses an oil-impregnated sleeve bearing. It is quieter than ball bearings but should be mounted vertically for best lifespan.
• How loud is it compared to the stock fan? At 100% speed, it is louder because it moves 3x the air. However, you can often run it at 40-60% speed for silent operation with better cooling than stock.
• What screws do I need? Standard M4 screws (typically M4x20mm or M4x25mm) are used for most 5015 mounting ducts.
• Does it support RPM sensing (Yellow wire)? No, this is a 2-wire fan. It does not send RPM data back to the board.
• My fan isn't spinning. Is it broken? Check polarity! If you plugged it in and Red went to Negative, it won't spin. Swap the wires. Also check if your fan speed is set to >0% in the slicer.
• Can I use this on a 12V printer? No. On 12V, this fan will spin very slowly or not at all. You need the 12V version of this product.
• Is the airflow direction marked? Usually, there is an arrow on the side. If not, the air always sucks in from the open circle and blows out the rectangular snout.
• Can I use this for the hotend heatsink (Cold End)? Technically yes, but 4010 or 4020 axial fans are preferred for heatsinks. 5015 blowers are optimized for part cooling.
• What is the start voltage? Most of these fans need at least 15-20% PWM signal to overcome static friction and start spinning.
• Is this compatible with Klipper firmware? Yes, absolutely. Klipper handles PWM frequency very well for these blowers.
• How do I clean the inside of the blower? Compressed air is best. Do not insert tools into the blades while spinning as they can snap easily.
• Will this fit a Voron StealthBurner? StealthBurner typically uses a 5015 blower, but check if your build spec calls for a specific brand (like Delta) or bearing type. This is a generic standard blower.
• Does it come with a cable extension? The attached cable is standard length (~20-30cm). For a large printer like a CR-10, you will likely need to solder an extension wire.
• Is this suitable for continuous 24/7 operation? Sleeve bearings are rated for ~30,000 hours but are sensitive to dust. For industrial 24/7 use, we recommend checking fans monthly.
