• Does this kit include the Peltier module?
  No, this is the heatsink assembly hardware only. The TEC1-12706 module must be purchased separately.
• Does it come with fans?
  No, fans are sold separately to allow you to choose between silent or high-performance airflow options.
• What size fans fit this kit?
  The large heatsink fits a standard 90mm fan, and the small heatsink fits a 40mm fan.
• Can I use this for a 12V car fridge?
  Yes, provided you have a 12V power source capable of delivering at least 6 Amps.
• How cold can the cold side get?
  With proper insulation and fans, the cold plate can reach frost points (-2°C to -5°C) if the ambient temperature is around 25°C.
• Which side of the Peltier goes to the large heatsink?
  The side with the text/model number is usually the COLD side (small heatsink). The blank side is the HOT side (large heatsink). Always test momentarily with a 1.5V battery to confirm.
• Do I need thermal paste on both sides?
  Yes, you must apply thermal paste to both faces of the Peltier module for efficient heat transfer.
• Can I use a TEC1-12715 (15 Amp) module with this?
  This heatsink is rated for approx 60-70W dissipation. A TEC1-12715 might overpower the hot-side heatsink without an extremely high-CFM fan.
• What screws are used in the kit?
  The kit uses standard M4 screws. Spares can be found in our hardware section.
• Is the insulation gasket necessary?
  Absolutely. Without it, moisture from the air will condense on the cold ceramic, potentially shorting the module leads.
• Can I use this for CPU cooling?
  Yes, but you will need to fabricate a custom bracket to mount the assembly to your motherboard socket.
• How do I power the fans?
  Most users splice the fan wires into the same 12V power supply powering the Peltier, ensuring they run whenever the cooling is active.
• Why is my cold side getting hot?
  This usually means the hot side fan is off, or the heatsink is not making good contact. Heat is "backing up" into the cold side.
• What prevents the screw from crushing the Peltier?
  You must rely on "feel". There is no automatic stop. Tighten until the heatsink no longer wiggles, then stop.
• Is the aluminium anodized?
  Yes, the finish is a standard industrial aluminium finish, resistant to mild corrosion.
