The essential kit for adding wireless control to your microcontroller projects. Includes a Slim IR Remote and an HX1838 Receiver Module. Compatible with the standard Arduino IRremote library, making it perfect for building remote-controlled robots, lighting systems, or media centres.
Quick Introduction: Unlock the power of wireless communication with the HX1838 Infrared Remote Kit. This budget-friendly set gives your Arduino eyes to "see" commands from standard TV remotes or the included slim controller. Whether you are building a line-following robot that needs a "Start" command or a custom LED mood light, this 38KHz IR receiver module is the industry standard for reliable short-range communication.
Detailed Specifications
Receiver Chip: HX1838
Carrier Frequency: 38 KHz (Standard NEC Protocol).
Operating Voltage: 3.3V - 5V DC.
Transmission Distance: up to 8 Meters (Line of Sight).
Effective Angle: 60 Degrees.
Remote Buttons: 17 Keys (0-9, Arrows, OK, *, #).
Remote Battery: CR2025 Coin Cell (⚠️ Note: Not Included).
Interface: Digital Output (Signal, VCC, GND).
Static Current: 3-5 uA (Low power consumption).
Quality Advantage & Differentiation: Why choose this kit?
Breakout Board Included: Instead of dealing with the raw, flimsy legs of the IR sensor, this kit mounts the receiver on a sturdy PCB with a proper header and an LED indicator that flashes when a signal is received.
Arduino Ready: This is the exact hardware supported by the most popular IRremote library, meaning you have access to thousands of example codes and tutorials instantly.
Slim Profile: The remote is ultra-thin and lightweight, perfect for portable projects where a bulky TV remote would be inconvenient.
Key Applications & Usage
Robot Control: Use the Arrow keys to drive your robot Forward, Backwards, Left, and right.
Home Automation: Decode signals from your actual TV remote to turn on a relay-connected fan or lamp using your Arduino.
Universal Remote Cloner: Use the receiver to "learn" codes from other remotes and re-transmit them (requires a separate IR Transmitter LED).
Interactive Art: Trigger sounds or lights when a viewer points a remote at your installation.
What's Included & Required
Included: 1x Infrared Receiver Module (PCB), 1x Slim IR Remote Control, 1x Set of Jumper Wires (usually).
Required: CR2025 Battery for Remote, Microcontroller (Arduino/ESP32).
The "Virtual Technician" Support Panel
⚠️ BATTERY ALERT:
Due to shipping regulations, the CR2025 coin cell battery is usually NOT included. The remote will not work without it. Please add one to your cart or check your drawer!
⚠️ FINDING THE CODES:
This remote does not send "Forward" or "Stop" text. It sends Hexadecimal Codes (e.g., 0xFFA25D).
How to Decode: Install the IRremote library in Arduino IDE -> Open File > Examples > IRremote > SimpleReceiver -> Upload -> Open Serial Monitor -> Press buttons to see their unique codes.
⚠️ SUNLIGHT INTERFERENCE:
IR sensors can be blinded by direct sunlight or high-intensity halogen lamps. If your project acts crazy outdoors, shield the sensor with a dark translucent plastic cover.
