Protect and cool your Raspberry Pi 5B with this premium black ABS case. Features an expanded internal design for better airflow, precise port cutouts, and an included 5V DC brushless cooling fan to prevent thermal throttling.
Expanded ABS Design The Raspberry Pi 5 generates significant heat under heavy loads. This case features a slightly larger, expanded internal volume compared to ultra-slim cases. This extra "Bigger Size" headroom provides a crucial air gap above the CPU, drastically improving internal convection and airflow. The three-piece design is molded from durable, impact-resistant matte black ABS plastic, providing robust protection against accidental drops, static discharge from fingers, and short circuits from stray metal on your desk.
Active Active Cooling System Passive cooling is no longer enough for the Pi 5. This kit includes a high-speed SHCHV 5V DC Brushless Fan (0.20A). The fan mounts directly to the underside of the top lid using the included screws, exhausting hot air out through the circular ventilation grill. By plugging the fan's connector directly into the Raspberry Pi's fan header (or 5V GPIO pins), you ensure the CPU stays well below its thermal throttling limit, allowing for 100% sustained performance during intense tasks like retro gaming or media transcoding.
Precision Engineering & Easy Access You shouldn't have to take your case apart to use your computer. This enclosure features precise cutouts for every single port on the Raspberry Pi 5B. You have instant access to the dual Micro-HDMI ports, the USB-C power delivery port, the dual USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 ports, and the Gigabit Ethernet jack. The kit also includes an adhesive thermal pad to bridge the gap between the CPU and your cooling solution, along with four silicone rubber feet to prevent the case from sliding around your desk.
Note: The Raspberry Pi 5B single-board computer is strictly NOT included with this product. This listing is for the protective case, cooling fan, and mounting hardware only.
Compatibility: Raspberry Pi 5 / Raspberry Pi 5B (NOT compatible with Pi 4 or Pi 3)
Material: ABS Plastic
Color: Matte Black
Case Construction: 3-Piece interlocking design (Base, Frame, Lid)
Included Fan: SHCHV DC Brushless Fan
Fan Voltage / Current: 5V DC / 0.20A
Mounting: 4x metal screws for fan, 4x rubber anti-slip feet
The Retro Gaming Console: Safely enclosing your Pi 5 while keeping it icy cool when running intensive emulation operating systems like RetroPie or Batocera.
Home Media Server: Protecting a Pi 5 running Plex or Jellyfin, ensuring the fan keeps the CPU cool during marathon 4K video transcoding sessions.
Desktop Mini-PC: Transforming a bare, fragile circuit board into a sleek, professional-looking miniature computer for web browsing and coding.
Unlock New Capabilities (Project Evolution)
The Silent Smart-Server: Evolve your setup! The included fan is powerful, but running it at 100% speed all the time isn't strictly necessary. Because the Pi 5 has a dedicated, PWM-controllable fan header, you can plug this fan in and configure the Pi's operating system to only turn the fan on when the CPU hits a specific temperature (e.g., 60 degrees Celsius). This gives you an entirely silent desktop PC while web browsing, with the fan automatically kicking in only when you launch a heavy program!
1 x Black ABS Case for Raspberry Pi 5B (Top, Middle, Bottom pieces)
1 x 5V DC Brushless Cooling Fan (0.20A)
4 x Metal Mounting Screws (for the fan)
1 x Thermal Pad
4 x Anti-Slip Rubber Feet
Does this case include the Raspberry Pi computer? No. As stated in the disclaimer, this listing is only for the ABS plastic case, the fan, and the mounting hardware. You must provide your own Raspberry Pi 5B.
Will this case fit a Raspberry Pi 4 Model B? No. The Raspberry Pi 5 completely changed the layout of the USB ports, Ethernet port, and removed the audio jack. This case is strictly molded for the Pi 5.
What material is the case made from? It is made from high-quality, impact-resistant ABS (Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene) plastic.
What are the specifications of the included fan? The included fan is an SHCHV DC brushless fan rated for 5V and 0.20A.
Where do I plug the fan in? The Raspberry Pi 5 features a dedicated 4-pin JST fan header specifically for cooling fans. Alternatively, you can wire the red and black cables directly to the 5V and Ground pins on the GPIO header.
How do I assemble the case? The case is a simple 3-part design. Lay the Pi into the bottom base, snap the middle frame over it, screw the fan into the top lid, and snap the top lid onto the frame.
Do I need tools to assemble the case? The plastic case pieces snap together without tools. However, you will need a small Phillips-head screwdriver to attach the cooling fan to the top lid using the four included screws.
Can I access the GPIO pins with the case closed? The standard design encloses the top of the board to force air through the fan vents. To attach standard GPIO jumper wires or HATs, you will typically need to remove the top lid.
What is the small black square included in the kit? That is an adhesive thermal pad. It is used to transfer heat from the Pi's CPU to a heatsink (if you have one) or to help dissipate heat safely.
What are the four small clear dots for? Those are adhesive silicone rubber feet. You stick them to the four corners of the bottom base so your case won't slide around or scratch your desk.
Can I see the power LED through the case? The case is solid black ABS, but the design typically features a small micro-hole or relies on the side port gaps to let the status LED shine through.
Will the fan drain my power supply? The fan draws a maximum of 0.20 Amps (1 Watt) at 5V. As long as you are using the recommended 27W USB-C power supply for the Pi 5, the fan's power draw is completely negligible.
Is the fan loud? Small 5V fans do produce an audible hum at full speed. However, if plugged into the Pi 5's dedicated fan header, the Pi will automatically control the fan speed based on CPU temperature, keeping it very quiet during idle tasks.
Do I have to use the fan? No, you can leave the fan unplugged or uninstalled, but the Pi 5 runs very hot. It is highly recommended to use the active cooling fan to prevent your computer from slowing down (thermal throttling).
Can I use the official Raspberry Pi 5 Active Cooler with this case? Because this is a "Bigger Size" case, it has more internal clearance than standard slim cases. Depending on the exact dimensions, many low-profile active coolers can fit inside if you do not mount the included lid fan.
How do I access the MicroSD card? The bottom piece of the case features a slotted cutout perfectly aligned with the Pi 5's MicroSD card reader, allowing you to swap OS cards without opening the case.
Does the case block the WiFi or Bluetooth signal? No. ABS plastic is completely transparent to radio frequencies. Your WiFi and Bluetooth will work perfectly without signal degradation.
Can I mount a camera or display ribbon cable? Yes, there are thin slits integrated into the middle frame layer designed to allow the delicate ribbon cables for cameras and DSI displays to pass through.
How do I clean the case? You can wipe the ABS plastic down with a slightly damp microfiber cloth. Do not use harsh solvents like acetone, as they will melt the plastic.
Can I mount this case to a wall? The bottom base features two cross-shaped keyhole mounting slots. This allows you to easily slide the case onto two screws mounted in a wall or under a desk!
