Achieve extreme rigidity and smooth motion with the LM10LUU extended linear bearing. Designed for 10mm smooth rods, this 55mm long bearing provides superior load distribution, recirculating steel balls, and dual rubber seals to repel shop dust.
The "Extended Length" Advantage Standard linear bearings (like the LM10UU) are relatively short. If you use a single standard bearing on a rod to support a wide carriage, any shifting weight can cause the carriage to "rack" or twist, making the bearing bind and scrape against the shaft. The LM10LUU solves this by extending the outer shell to a massive 55mm in length. This drastically increases the wheelbase on the shaft, preventing twisting, eliminating play, and allowing you to support much heavier loads smoothly with just a single bearing per rod.
10mm Precision & Recirculating Balls Moving up from 8mm to 10mm smooth rods exponentially increases the rigidity of your machine's axes, preventing the rods from bowing under the weight of a heavy spindle or extruder. Inside the 10mm bore of this bearing, multiple rows of tiny hardened steel balls carry the load. As the bearing is pushed, the internal polymer cage recirculates the balls in an endless loop, providing infinite travel distance with incredibly low friction.
Dual Seals & Retaining Grooves Because these are heavily utilized in woodworking CNCs and 3D printers, keeping the internal ball tracks clean is vital. The "UU" designation means it is equipped with double rubber wiper seals at both ends. These gently hug the 10mm rod, wiping away sawdust and debris before it can enter the bearing. The outer 19mm metal shell features two machined grooves, allowing you to quickly lock the bearing into a tubular mount using standard external snap rings (circlips).
Model Designation: LM10LUU

Inner Diameter (Bore): 10mm
Outer Diameter: 19mm
Overall Length: 55mm
Seal Type: UU (Double Rubber End Seals)
Outer Shell Material: Carbon Steel

Heavy-Duty CNC Routers: Upgrading the Y-axis and Z-axis of desktop CNC machines to handle the intense vibrations and loads of routing hardwood or aluminum.
Large-Format 3D Printers: Providing the rigid guidance required for massive 400mm x 400mm heated print beds that would normally bow standard 8mm rods.
Automated Sliding Racks: Creating custom, motorized pull-out storage drawers for heavy tools in a workshop.
Unlock New Capabilities (Project Evolution)
The Desktop Aluminum Mill: Standard 8mm 3D printer parts are too flimsy to mill metal. Evolve your manufacturing capabilities by building a custom CNC! By upgrading your axes to 10mm hardened steel rods and these extended LM10LUU bearings, you eliminate the "chatter" and flex that ruins endmills. Pair these bearings with NEMA 23 stepper motors and 12mm ballscrews, and your DIY machine will have the rigidity required to accurately carve complex parts out of solid blocks of aluminum!
Package Includes:

What does "LM10LUU" stand for? "LM" stands for Linear Motion. "10" indicates the 10mm inner bore. "L" signifies it is the "Long" version. "UU" means it has double rubber end seals.
What are the exact dimensions? It has a 10mm inner diameter, 19mm outer diameter, and is 55mm long.
What kind of rod do I need for this? You must use a 10mm precision smooth rod made of hardened steel or chrome-plated steel.
Can I use these on aluminum or carbon fiber rods? No. The hardened steel balls inside the bearing will quickly dig trenches into softer materials like aluminum or carbon fiber, ruining the shaft and the bearing.
Do these need to be lubricated? Yes! Out of the box, they are coated in anti-rust shipping oil. Before use, you must pack them with a light machine oil or white lithium grease for smooth, quiet operation.
What is the difference between LM10UU and LM10LUU? The standard LM10UU is much shorter (typically 29mm long). The LM10LUU is extended (55mm long), acting essentially like two standard bearings in one shell for superior stability.
Are these bearings directional? No. They are perfectly symmetrical and can be slid onto your 10mm rod from either direction.
What are the two grooves on the outside of the metal shell? Those are retaining ring grooves. They allow you to securely lock the bearing inside a custom housing using standard metal snap rings.
Can this bearing handle rotational movement? NO. This is strictly a linear bearing. Spinning the shaft rapidly inside the bearing (like a drill) will derail the balls and destroy the polymer cage.
Are they waterproof? No. While the rubber seals help keep dust out, the high-carbon steel shell and internal balls will rust if exposed to water or high humidity without heavy grease.
Why do they sound "scratchy" out of the box? A "scratchy" sound usually means there is manufacturing dust inside, or they lack proper lubrication. Soaking them in Isopropyl Alcohol, letting them dry, and repacking them with lithium grease will usually fix this.
Will the balls fall out if I take the bearing off the rod? No, the black polymer cage physically retains the steel balls inside the bearing. You can slide them on and off shafts freely.
How do I properly press this into an aluminum block? If press-fitting it into an SC10LUU block or custom mount, apply pressure only to the outer steel rim. Pressing on the rubber seal or the inner cage will instantly destroy it.
How much weight can a single LM10LUU handle? Due to its length, it has a dynamic load rating of approximately 588 Newtons (about 60 kg / 132 lbs). However, always use them in parallel pairs or sets to prevent twisting.
What does the black rubber ring on the ends do? It acts as a physical wiper. As the bearing moves, it wipes dust and debris off the steel rod so it doesn't get ground into the internal ball tracks.
How many ball circuits does this bearing have? Standard 10mm linear bearings typically feature four distinct recirculating ball tracks spaced evenly around the inside of the polymer cage.
Can I use these to upgrade my standard 3D printer (like an Ender 3 or Prusa)? Not directly. Standard desktop 3D printers use 8mm rods. You would have to replace your smooth rods with 10mm versions and redesign all your printed carriage blocks to accommodate the larger 19mm outer diameter.
Can these handle side-loads (twisting forces)? Linear bearings are designed for direct radial loads. Twisting forces (moments) will cause them to bind. While the "Long" version resists twisting better than short ones, you should still use guide rails in parallel pairs.
Do they require a break-in period? Yes. Once properly greased and mounted, running the carriage back and forth by hand a few dozen times will distribute the grease and help seat the balls, noticeably improving smoothness.
Can I 3D print a mount for this? Yes! 3D printing a custom carriage with a 19mm diameter hole and securing the bearing with heavy-duty zip-ties is a very common and effective DIY mounting method.
