1. Does this come with a battery pack or power supply?
   No. This listing is for the 1M Wire Only. You must purchase an EL Inverter (Driver) separately to make it glow.

2. What is the difference between this "Blue" and "Ice Blue"?
   This "Blue" is a deep, saturated royal or ocean blue. "Ice Blue" is a lighter, brighter cyan/aqua color (often called Tron Blue).

3. What does the wire look like when turned off?
   When unlit, the outer jacket looks like a solid, dark blue plastic wire. It only takes on its rich, glowing neon look when powered by an inverter.

4. Is 1 Meter enough to line my car's dashboard?
   1 Meter is usually enough for a single short accent line (like over the glovebox or around a center console). To outline a whole dashboard and door panels, you will typically need 3 to 5 meters.

5. How do I power this inside my PC case?
   You can use our USB EL Inverter. Plug the inverter directly into a USB port on your motherboard or case, and connect the wire to the inverter.

    

6. Can I wire this directly to my 12V car battery?
   No. You must use our 12V EL Inverter as a bridge. EL wire requires high-voltage AC to function. Connecting the wire directly to 12V DC will not light it up and may ruin the wire.

    

7. Is it waterproof?
   The blue wire itself is waterproof (IP65) and can be used outdoors. However, the black connector and the inverter are NOT waterproof and must be kept strictly dry.

8. Does it get hot?
   No. EL wire is a "cold light" source. It generates virtually zero heat, making it completely safe to wedge into car upholstery, glue onto plastics, or wear against fabrics.

9. Can I cut it to a specific size?
   Yes. You can cut it to any exact length with standard scissors. Always seal the cut end with a drop of hot glue or superglue to prevent moisture entry and mild shocks.

10. Can I make it blink to the beat of music?
    Yes, if you purchase a "Sound Activated" EL Inverter. Standard inverters usually only offer steady on, slow blink, and fast blink modes.

11. Is it bright enough to light up my footwells?
    No. EL wire is designed for direct-view accent lighting (like a glowing outline). It does not cast light to illuminate surrounding areas like a standard LED bulb would.

     

12. Can I bend it in sharp 90-degree angles?
    Yes, but avoid bending it sharply back and forth in the exact same spot, as this causes metal fatigue and can snap the internal copper core.

13. Why does the inverter make a humming noise?
    The inverter oscillates at a high frequency to create the necessary AC power. A faint high-pitched whine is completely normal physics for EL technology.

14. How do I attach it to my PC case or monitor?
    Clear double-sided tape, small zip ties, or clear superglue (cyanoacrylate) work perfectly.

15. Is it safe for kids' costumes?
    Yes, provided the battery pack is securely tucked away, the wire is firmly attached so it doesn't snag, and the cut ends are sealed with glue.

    Yes. Over a very long time (roughly 3,000 to 5,000 hours of use), the phosphors will slowly degrade and the brightness will decrease.

    Yes, but extending requires precision soldering to the hair-thin "angel wires" inside the core, which is notoriously difficult for beginners.
