1. What does "Back Nut" mean? It means the nut that secures the socket to the panel is located on the rear side (inside the box). This creates a clean look on the front panel with no visible nut or screws.

2. Is this really waterproof? Yes, it is rated IP68. When the plug and socket are screwed together, they are fully waterproof. The cable gland on the back of the plug also creates a waterproof seal around your wire.

3. What size wire fits? The solder cups are designed for 12AWG to 14AWG. Thicker 10AWG might be a tight squeeze but can work if you file the wire tip.

4. Can I handle 25 Amps continuously? Yes, the 3-pin version uses thick 2.8mm contact pins rated for 25A continuous load.

5. What is the hole size for the panel? You need to drill a 20mm diameter hole to mount the socket.

6. Which side is Male/Female?

   • Male Plug: Has pins, goes on the cable.

   • Female Socket: Has holes, goes on the panel.

7. Is it compatible with GX20 connectors? No. SD20 (Plastic/Nylon) and GX20 (Metal) have different threads and mating mechanisms. They are not interchangeable.

8. Can I use this for Mains 220V? Yes, it is rated for up to 380V AC, so standard 220V/110V is safe.

9. What happens if I forget the gland nut before soldering? You will have to desolder everything and start over. Always check the order of assembly!

10. Is the plastic durable? Yes, it is made of PA66 Nylon, which is UV resistant, tough, and withstands high temperatures better than cheap PVC connectors.

11. Do I need a dust cap? Some kits include a cap for the socket when not in use. If yours does, use it to keep dust/water out when unplugged.

12. Can I use this for Data? Yes, but it is overkill. 25A connectors are bulky. For data, look for the SD13 or SD16 series.

13. Is it keyed? Yes, there is a plastic notch/keyway inside that prevents you from plugging it in rotated. It only fits one way.

14. How do I tighten the back nut? You can use a wrench or pliers, but be careful not to overtighten and crack the plastic threads. Hand-tight plus a 1/4 turn is usually enough.

15. Does the cable clamp work on thin wires? The gland is designed for 8-12mm cable. If your wire is thinner, wrap some electrical tape around the cable jacket to build up thickness for a good seal.

16. Are the pins gold plated? Yes, genuine SD20 connectors have gold-plated brass contacts for low resistance.

17. Can I use 4 wires on this? No, this is the 3-Pin version. You must use the SD20-4Pin or SD20-5Pin model for more wires.
