Upgrade your micro RC car or boat with this compact 30A brushed ESC. Supports 2S LiPo batteries (4-8V) and features a selectable brake switch, integrated power switch, and a built-in 5.7V 1A BEC to power your receiver without an extra battery.
Precision Micro Control When upgrading "toy-grade" RC cars to hobby-grade components, space is your biggest enemy. This 30A Micro ESC is specifically designed for 1/18, 1/24, and 1/35 scale vehicles where traditional speed controllers simply won't fit. It accepts standard PWM signals from an RC receiver and translates them into smooth, proportional forward and reverse motion for small brushed DC motors (like 130, 180, or 280 sizes). Rated for 4V to 8V input, it perfectly pairs with standard 2S (7.4V) LiPo batteries.
Selectable Braking Function Different vehicles require different driving dynamics. On the edge of the ESC circuit board under the clear heat shrink, you will find a tiny physical slide switch marked "With/without brake switch".
Brake On (Crawlers/Cars): When you shift from forward to reverse on your transmitter, the ESC applies a "brake" to slow the motor down before allowing it to engage reverse, protecting the gears.
Brake Off (Boats/Tanks): Going from forward to reverse provides instant, direct reverse rotation, which is essential for RC boats that need to back up quickly or combat robots that need to pivot.
Built-in BEC & Power Switch You don't need a heavy, separate battery just to run your radio equipment. This ESC features an integrated Battery Eliminator Circuit (BEC). It automatically steps the 7.4V battery voltage down to a safe 5.7V (at 1A) and sends it through the 3-pin receiver switch wire. This powers your receiver and your steering servo simultaneously. Furthermore, the unit features a hardwired physical power switch, allowing you to mount it to the body of your RC car so you can turn the vehicle off without having to constantly unplug the main battery.
Motor Type: Brushed DC Motors Only
Continuous/Burst Current: ~20A Continuous / 30A Burst (Peak)
Input Voltage: 4.0V to 8.0V (Optimized for 2S LiPo)
BEC Output: 5.7V at 1A (Powers receiver/servo)
Operation Modes: Forward/Brake/Reverse OR Forward/Instant Reverse (Selectable)
Connectors: JST-SYP Red (Motor & Battery), JR/Futaba 3-Pin (Receiver)
1/24 Scale Rock Crawlers: Upgrading micro crawlers with proportional throttle control and utilizing the brake function for better downhill descent control.
Micro RC Boats: Using the "brake off" instant-reverse mode to navigate tight pools and ponds with custom 3D-printed jet boats.
Arduino Robotics: Wiring the 3-pin receiver plug directly to an Arduino to easily control the speed and direction of small drive motors in an autonomous rover using standard Servo.h code.
1 x 30A Brushed Micro ESC (Pre-soldered with Battery, Motor, Receiver, and Power Switch leads)

What does "ESC" stand for? ESC stands for Electronic Speed Controller. It is the device that takes the signal from your radio receiver and translates it into variable electrical power to change the speed of a motor.
Is this for brushed or brushless motors? This ESC is strictly for Brushed DC motors (motors with two wires). It will not work with 3-wire brushless motors.
What does "Bidirectional" mean? It means the ESC can spin the motor in both directions, giving your RC vehicle both forward and reverse capabilities.
What voltage does this ESC support? It supports an input voltage range of 4V to 8V. It is perfectly optimized for a 2-cell (2S) 7.4V LiPo battery.
Can I use a 3S (11.1V) LiPo battery with this? No. Applying 11.1V will instantly fry the internal components. Stick to 2S LiPo or 4-to-6 cell NiMH battery packs.
What does the tiny switch on the circuit board do? That is the brake selector switch. It toggles whether the ESC applies a digital brake when you transition from forward to reverse, or if it instantly slams into reverse gear.
What is a BEC? BEC stands for Battery Eliminator Circuit. It is an internal voltage regulator that drops the main battery voltage down to a safe level (5.7V in this case) to power your radio receiver and steering servo.
How much current can the BEC provide? The BEC provides 1 Amp of current. This is plenty for a standard micro receiver and a single micro steering servo (like an SG90).
Do I need a separate battery pack just for my receiver? No, thanks to the built-in BEC, the single main battery powers both the drive motor and your radio receiver simultaneously.
What type of connectors are on the red wires? The battery and motor wires use standard red 2-pin JST-SYP connectors.
How do I connect it to my receiver? The cable with the black plastic end and three wires (black, red, white) plugs directly into the throttle channel (usually Channel 2) on your RC receiver.
Which wire is the signal wire on the receiver plug? The white wire is the PWM signal, the red is +5.7V power (BEC out), and the black is Ground.
Can this ESC be used in RC boats? Yes, it is highly popular for micro boats. However, the ESC is not waterproof. You must place it inside a sealed, waterproof radio box inside the hull.
Why is my car going faster in reverse than in forward? You likely have the motor wires swapped. Simply unplug the two-pin motor connector, flip it around (if possible), or desolder and swap the positive/negative wires directly on the motor tabs.
Does this ESC require calibration? Generally, no. This micro ESC features auto-centering. Ensure your transmitter throttle trim is set to absolute zero (center) before turning the ESC on, and it will automatically find the neutral point.
What size motors can this run? It is designed for micro motors. It easily handles 130, 180, 260, and 280-size brushed motors commonly found in 1/18 and 1/24 scale vehicles.
Can I use this with an Arduino instead of an RC remote? Yes! Because it uses a standard RC PWM signal, you can connect the signal wire to an Arduino digital pin and use the standard Servo.h library to control the motor speed.
Why does it say 30A if it's so small? 30A is the absolute maximum burst or peak rating for a split second (like when the motor is stalled). The safe, continuous operating current is much lower (usually around 15A to 20A).
What does the physical power switch do? The slider switch cuts power from the ESC to the receiver and motor. However, it is a soft switch; the ESC still draws a tiny bit of power from the battery even when off. Always unplug your LiPo battery when done driving.
