Automate heavy lifting with the PAW-12-250-700 Linear Actuator. Delivers 700N (157 lbs) of force over a 250mm stroke at 12mm/s. Features a waterproof motor housing, aluminium tubing, and 6mm clevis mounting holes.
Massive 700N Push/Pull Force When you need to lift heavy trap doors, open heavy windows, or articulate solar panels, standard servos won't work. The PAW-12-250-700 provides a formidable 700 Newtons (approximately 157 lbs) of force. This immense power allows it to easily push, pull, and hold significant weight. Traveling at a steady, deliberate speed of 12mm per second, it provides smooth, controlled motion that won't jerk or snap your custom hinges.
Waterproof and Weather Resistant Unlike standard open-frame motors, this actuator is built for the elements. The DC motor and internal gear assemblies are enclosed inside a tightly sealed, thick black housing, while the extension rod sits inside a sleek, rust-resistant aluminum alloy tube. This waterproof design makes it the ultimate choice for outdoor projects like automated chicken coop doors, greenhouse vents, and marine hatches.
Effortless Integration and Safety Mounting this actuator is straightforward thanks to the pre-drilled 6mm clevis mounting holes located at both the base of the motor housing and the tip of the extension rod. Simply slip a 6mm pin or bolt through to attach it to your frame. Furthermore, it features built-in limit switches. Once the rod reaches its maximum 250mm extension or fully retracts, the internal switches automatically cut the power to the motor, preventing it from burning out or tearing itself apart.
Operating Voltage: 12V DC
Stroke Length: 250mm
Load Capacity (Force): 700N (approx. 157 lbs)
Travel Speed: 12mm/s (no-load)
Retracted Length (Center-to-Center): 355mm (Calculated: Stroke 250mm + 105mm)
Extended Length (Center-to-Center): 605mm (Calculated: Stroke 250mm x 2 + 105mm)
Mounting Hole Diameter: 6mm
Outer Tube Diameter: 30mm
Inner Rod Diameter: 20mm
Wiring: 2-Wire (Red and Black/White)
Automated Chicken Coop Doors: Paired with a timer or light sensor, the 250mm stroke is the perfect length to lift a heavy wooden guillotine door to let chickens out in the morning and lock out predators at night.
Solar Panel Trackers: Pushing and pulling the frame of a solar array to track the sun's arc, maximizing energy harvest throughout the day.
Custom Vehicle Hatches: Motorizing the tonneau cover, trunk, or truck bed lid on custom show cars or overland rigs.
Unlock New Capabilities (Project Evolution)
The Hidden Workbench Monitor Lift: Reclaim your desk space! Build a false back into your workbench and attach this actuator to a VESA monitor mount. Wire the actuator to a 12V DPDT rocker switch. With the flick of a switch, the actuator's 700N force will smoothly lift your dual-monitor setup out of the desk for work, and then seamlessly lower it back into hiding when you need the surface area for messy mechanical projects!
1 x PAW-12-250-700 Waterproof Linear Actuator (250mm Stroke, 12V)

What is the operating voltage? This actuator requires a 12V DC power supply to operate properly.
What does "250mm Stroke" mean? The stroke is the total distance the inner silver rod travels from fully closed to fully open. It extends exactly 250mm (about 9.8 inches).
How much is 700N of force? 700 Newtons translates to roughly 71 kilograms or 157 pounds of pushing and pulling force.
How fast does it move? It travels at a steady speed of 12mm per second (12mm/s) when unloaded. It may slow down slightly when pushing its maximum weight limit.
Is this actuator waterproof? Yes, the sealed black motor housing and aluminum tubing provide excellent weather and splash resistance, making it suitable for outdoor use.
What is the length when it is fully closed (retracted)? Based on the manufacturer's diagram (Stroke + 105mm), the hole-to-hole retracted length is exactly 355mm.
What is the length when it is fully open (extended)? The extended hole-to-hole length is 605mm.
How do I mount it? Both ends feature clevis mounts with 6mm diameter holes. You can use 6mm bolts, pins, or specialized actuator mounting brackets.
How do I reverse the direction? It is a simple DC motor. You just swap the polarity of the power source. Connect positive to Red and negative to Black to extend, then reverse them to retract.
Does it have limit switches? Yes, it has internal limit switches. It will automatically stop moving when it hits the fully extended (250mm) or fully retracted position, preventing damage.
Can I adjust where the limit switches stop? No, the internal limit switches are fixed at the factory for the 250mm stroke and cannot be manually adjusted.
Can I stop it midway through its stroke? Yes. If you cut the power at any point during its travel, it will stop and hold its position instantly.
Will it drop the load if power is lost? No. Linear actuators use internal worm/lead screws that are self-locking. It will hold its payload firmly in place even when unpowered.
Can I control this with an Arduino? Yes, but you cannot connect it directly to an Arduino. You must use the Arduino to trigger a heavy-duty Relay module (like a 4-channel relay) or a high-current H-Bridge motor driver.
What is the diameter of the outer aluminum tube? The silver outer tube is 30mm in diameter.
What is the diameter of the inner extending rod? The moving inner rod has a diameter of 20mm.
Can I run this off a 12V car or marine battery? Absolutely. A 12V lead-acid or deep-cycle battery is a perfect power source for this actuator.
Can I run it on 5V or 24V? 24V will burn out the 12V motor. It may run on lower voltages like 5V or 9V, but it will be extremely slow and lose a massive amount of its 700N pushing force.
Can this actuator pull as well as push? Yes, the 700N rating applies to both the extension (pushing) and retraction (pulling) motions.
Is there a wiring diagram included? Wiring is incredibly simple. There are only two wires (typically Red and White/Black) coming from the motor housing. Connect to 12V DC via a DPDT switch or relay to control forward and reverse.
