The top is finished with a clean, chamfered silver edge and a high-contrast white indicator line, allowing you to see the exact position of your dial at a glance.
Effortless Push-Fit Installation You don't need any tiny screwdrivers or hex keys to install this component. The underside of the knob reveals a durable white plastic core featuring an internal spline pattern. This is specifically engineered to mate with standard 6mm knurled shafts (often referred to as splined or "split" shafts). Simply align the splines and push the knob firmly down onto the potentiometer for a tight, friction-locked fit.

What size shaft does this fit? It is designed exclusively for standard 6mm shafts.
Will this fit a D-shaft or smooth shaft? No. It is designed for "knurled" or splined shafts. The inner plastic core has teeth that grip the splines. It will not securely grip a perfectly smooth shaft or a D-shaped shaft.
Does it have a set screw to tighten it? No, it relies entirely on a tight friction fit. You simply push it onto the shaft.
What are the exact dimensions? The knob has an outer diameter of 15mm and a total height of 17mm.
Is the white line a sticker? No, the white position indicator line is painted or inlaid into the top surface of the knob so it won't easily rub off.
Can I use this on a guitar pedal? Yes, as long as the potentiometer on the pedal has a 6mm knurled shaft, this will fit perfectly and look great.
What is the inner white part made of? The inner core is made of a durable, slightly flexible nylon/plastic that grips the metal shaft of the potentiometer tightly without stripping.
Will this fit a 1/4-inch (6.35mm) shaft? No. A 1/4-inch shaft is too thick and will not fit into the 6mm hole. Forcing it may crack the internal plastic.
How do I remove the knob once it's on? Simply grasp the outer textured edges and pull firmly straight up and away from the panel. Do not twist aggressively while pulling.
Is the outer shell real solid metal? Typically, knobs in this class feature a lightweight plastic core wrapped in an aluminum shell or a highly finished metallic coating to provide the premium look and feel.
Will the silver edge tarnish? No, the chamfered silver rim is treated to resist oxidation and will remain shiny under normal indoor use.
Can I use this with an EC11 rotary encoder? Yes, EC11 encoders commonly come in a 6mm knurled shaft variant. It will fit those perfectly.
Is this knob heavy? No, because it utilizes a plastic internal structure, it is very lightweight, which prevents it from putting unnecessary stress on the potentiometer's internal wipers.
What does "knurled" mean? Knurling refers to the pattern of straight vertical ridges. On the outside of the knob, it provides grip for your fingers. On the potentiometer shaft, it provides teeth for the knob to bite into.
Does the knob light up? No, this is an opaque component. The white line is solid paint and will not transmit LED light from underneath.
Why is the white line important? When turning a potentiometer (like a volume dial), the white line provides absolute visual feedback so you know exactly what level the dial is set to before turning the device on.
Can I paint the white line a different color? Yes, if you have a steady hand, you can carefully apply enamel paint or a fine acrylic marker over the white line to customize your project.
If my shaft is split down the middle, do I need to pry it open? If the knob feels slightly loose, you can very gently pry the two halves of the split shaft apart with a flathead screwdriver to increase the friction.
Will this fit standard Alpha potentiometers? Yes, Alpha (and similar brands) widely use the 18-tooth 6mm knurled shaft standard, which is what this knob is built for.
Can I use this outdoors? While it will function outdoors, extreme UV exposure and rain over several years may cause the black finish to fade or the internal plastic to become brittle. It is primarily designed for indoor equipment.
